I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV, leased in April 2025. Since early in my lease, the vehicle has had ongoing drivability issues that have worsened over time and now present a serious safety concern. From the beginning, the vehicle exhibited jerking and hesitation while driving. Initially minor, this has become more frequent and now includes stalling behavior during normal driving conditions, including acceleration and traffic flow. This creates a risk of collision, especially when merging or at intersections.Approximately six months into my lease, the radiator failed and had to be replaced. More recently, while driving, multiple warnings appeared at once: Hybrid System Malfunction, Battery System Malfunction, Oil Monitoring Malfunction, and i-ACTIVSENSE partially disabled. These warnings were documented. Two weeks prior, the dealership reported no diagnostic codes. However, on my most recent visit, I was told via video that the active air shutter is now the issue. The required part is on backorder until August. I was told I could either remain in a non-comparable loaner while still making full lease payments, or continue driving the vehicle in its current condition until the part arrives. I find this unacceptable given the safety concerns.I expressed that I do not feel safe driving this vehicle, but the service advisor stated this is “not a safety concern.” I disagree. A vehicle that jerks, hesitates, or stalls while driving, combined with multiple system malfunctions and disabled safety features, presents a clear safety risk.I also disclosed prior to leasing that I do not have access to charging. I was told this would not be an issue. I am now being told that not charging the vehicle may be contributing to the problem. Service advisors have also indicated these vehicles have known hybrid battery issues.I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle and am concerned for my safety and my family’s safety.

I have taken my car to service in January, and it has had all the recalls fixes done, supposedly. Just the last two weeks I have been feeling a notchy sensation when steering, it resists and then jumps to the next notch when turning. Not a smooth feeling as it did during the first year of usage.

    1. The system that is failing is the rear tailgate. When it is opened or closed there is a clicking sound as if it is tryng to engage the lock multiple times. While driving this continues with the tailgate closed turning on and off the interior lights in the vehicle and showing on the front console that the tailgate is unlocked and open. the car is availabe for inspection on request. When I asked the dealer about it they stated that this is a known problem and it will cost approximately 800 dollars to fix which I believe is unresonable due to it being a known issue. 2. Since the rear tailgate may not lock properly it could potentially fly open while driving. 3. Yes see #1-Was reported to Kennedy Mazda located in Valparaiso Indiana. 4. Yes see #1 5. No warnings just the constant clicking of the lock mechanism can be heard.

Started the car to go to work and the check engine light came on, I stop started flashing and wouldn’t turn off. Message says there is a malfunction with the hybrid system and to visit Mazda dealer. I had to drive it to work, so it drove fine. But the lights never went off.

The rear backup sensors no longer work and did not give any indication they stopped working. They do not detect cars driving up from behind when driving or switching lanes or objects or people behind the car anymore when you reverse. This happened without any notice or warning indications.

Vehicle experienced multiple safety-related failures at approximately 500 miles. The failures included complete instrument cluster loss (no speedometer or gauges), unpredictable windshield wiper operation, headlight flickering, complete loss of brake lights and turn signals, rear liftgate malfunction, and airbag/seatbelt warning indicators. These issues created unsafe operating conditions, including inability to monitor vehicle speed, loss of rear signaling and brake indication to other drivers, and uncertainty regarding airbag system functionality. This presented a risk to both the driver and surrounding traffic. The failures occurred intermittently and in combination, indicating a potential systemic electrical issue rather than a single isolated component failure. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Mazda dealership and is currently under inspection and repair. The dealership has indicated the instrument cluster requires replacement and is currently on backorder. Full root cause has not been confirmed. Warning indicators, including airbag and seatbelt system alerts, were observed prior to and during the failures. Additional symptoms included erratic system behavior across multiple vehicle functions. Vehicle remains at dealership with no confirmed repair completion date. Component is available for inspection upon request through the servicing dealership.

Description of the issue: While driving, the steering wheel suddenly develops a significantly increased resistance. This resistance can only be overcome by applying noticeably higher force. The steering feels as if it is “sticking” or momentarily binding. Driving conditions where the issue occurs: - Frequently on highways - Also on rural roads - Occurs both while cornering and while driving straight ahead
