My headlights have a motor (or motors) in them. This feature is to adjust headlights in accordance with the steering wheel. I think it's referred to as AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System). The left headlight's motor makes a noise. I do not always hear it when driving but when stopped or parking and exiting the vehicle, I can hear it until the lights turn off. The car has about 37,000 - 38,000 miles on it.

Over the past several weeks, we began hearing a pronounced noise coming from the front of the vehicle, which the dealership diagnosed as a failing motor within the driver-side headlight unit. Given that this is a critical safety component, and part of the upgraded package purchased when the vehicle was new — we were surprised to encounter this issue on a vehicle of 4 years and 41,540 miles. While attempting a left-hand turn, the steering wheel suddenly became stiff and unresponsive, as if the mechanical gear had bound. This sudden resistance made it impossible to complete the turn, causing the vehicle to strike a curb at low speed. A post-accident inspection at Lee Johnson Mazda (RO# 649854) confirmed extensive damage, including a bent inner tie rod, a damaged front wheel bearing/hub assembly, and wheel/tire damage totaling over $6,500. The dealership stated no electronic fault codes were present in the computer, but the physical behavior matches the 'sticky steering' symptoms currently under federal investigation for other Mazda models (Recall 24V022 / RQ26002). I believe a mechanical failure in the steering gear caused the collision.

Turned car on when leaving for work. Smelled a strong burning smell. Fluid all under car on the driveway. Took the vehicle to repair shop and they stated that it was the cylinder head and that there was a possible recall or warranty extension for this particular issue. I called Mazda and they said it was an issue but for the 2019 model and not the 2018. After doing some research I have read where this issue seems to be happening for the 2018 as well and they are not taking responsibility for it.

Brakes have been really squeaky and seems like a common problem for other CX90 but no fix. Steering tends to feel “sticky” when doing certain turns and locks when you’re at the max radius and won’t return back

Here the facts, bought a car out of state (Illinois) from Iowa with 130,131 miles on Sept 12th 2025, Mazda CX9, the dealer did not disclose any problems with the car, after 3 months of ownership, the car overheats on highway whit family including a [XXX] infant, white smoke under the hood and exhaust pipe, towed home, radiator was replaced, few days after that a coolant leak, vehicle was sent to an authorized Mazda dealership for diagnose, the technician told us, according to Mazda procedures, a cod P111A, the vehicle's engine reached unsafe level of temperature and the whole engine needs to be replaced because a cracked head cylinder. This problem is well known by Mazda because they addressed on a TSB01-002/23 and CSP11 extended warranty, there is a flaw in the design of the engine near the cylinders manifold area, that cracks the engine and requires a full replacement of the engine. its just a flaw in the design of the engine. On the morning of January 28, 2026 I arrived to work and came to a complete stop in my works parking garage. I used my key card to raise the gate. Once the gate was fully raised I pressed the accelerator to drive up the ramp. Shortly after accelerating, my engine revved really loud and high rate, then my car automatically increased speed. I immediately pressed the brake pedal but it didn’t stop. It continued accelerating at a speed not controlled by me with my brakes not engaging even though I was pressing the brake as hard as could. I estimate I travel about 100’ with no control of the gas or brake. It lasted about 15-20 seconds. If a car were in front of me at that time, I would have crashed into them because I could not stop the car. I immediately called Davis Moore Mazda. I had the vehicle towed there because I didn’t feel safe driving it. Information from my cars computer program was sent to Mazda. Mazda didn’t see any issues and their diagnosis was a foot was likely on the accelerator causing the acceleration. The general manager called me to discuss. He said the only thing that registered was acceleration. I asked does the computer show my attempt to brake (stop) the car. His response was the computer wouldn’t read that because that was a normal driving process that wouldn’t be recorded. I asked why the acceleration would trigger an alert in the computer, since acceleration is also a normal driving process. He then said the computer picked it up because it accelerated quickly. There were no warnings present prior to this issue.

The steering wheel keeps sticking when turning left or right. It does not matter what speed you are going. I almost hit a car due to this. The previous steering recall has been performed without fixing the issue. I took the car to Mazda in Corpus Christi, TX and they claim they can not find an issue. I can repeat the issue l even parked.

When I’m going around the corner, the steering feels sort of sticky and either won’t stay in one place or feels a little bit stuck in one place. It sometimes feels like someone else is making micro adjustments to the steering as I’m holding the steering wheel. This has been happening for about the last 10,000 miles on the vehicle.
