Passenger side sun visor will not stay in place. Cannot lock it in up position, which means it droops. Causing sight of vision impairment.

Everytime I fill the car up with gas it does this thing where I lose power when I stop or when I turn the wheel. So I have to stop and start the car. Its very dangerous because it has cut off while I was making a turn. We have tried to fix it several times. We replaced the fuel pump and that helped for a month or two but then it goes right back to cutting off after it is filled up with gas.

The contact owns a 2018 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, there was smoke coming from the engine, and the contact smelled an oil-burning odor. No warning lights were illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the cylinder head was damaged, causing oil to leak into the cylinders, and that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and promised to open a case and give the contact a callback within 24 to 48 hours. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

I was driving from Rock Hill, SC on October 17, 2025 on Route 77 South when I heard an explosion while talking to my daughter at approximately 8:40 am. I stopped the car twice to check the tires. On the second stop, I lifted the hatch but did not see anything. I got back into the car and decided to open the sunroof slide just a bit. I opened it slowly and saw shards of glass and put my hand up through the hole. I closed the slider carefully. I continued to drive to the Florida Welcome Center where I found a maintenance man to put duck tape over it. This did not hold. I was only driving about 60 mph as I was afraid that glass would fly out and harm the vehicle behind me. I decided to stop at my son’s as it was closer than my home. The next morning we purchased vinyl and duck tape to cover the hole better. I called my Mazda dealership while in SC. They said to bring it in for them to look at it on Monday. I called again at the Welcome Center to see if I should cover it. They said that was best. It is now Monday morning, October 20, 2025 and am at the dealership. Mileage is approximate.

Steering wheel is very still. I checked online and noticed there is a recall for this problem. I am requesting a recall on my vehicle so that the problem can be resolved.

Cracked cylinder head causing oil leak and possible coolant leak. This is a known issue with this year and model. Mazda is trying to suggest the issue is only for the turbo engine, but the non-turbo engine is also defective, per countless reports online. I have a video from the service technician from the mazda dealership, but it is too big to upload.

Gas tank is leaking from the TOP. I could smell gas after a refill (and refilling a portable tank) that I thought must have been a spill I hadn't noticed, and the smell faded. But then it happened again at the next refill, and I knew it wasn't just a spill. Brought it to our trusted mechanic who said that the TOP of the tank was rusted out (wow!)(so, not from road salt) and needs to be replaced. Not cheap, but worse, I'd been driving around in a very hazardous situation that Mazda knows happens. No warning lights, no recall. Thanks, guys. The steering rack catastrophically failed at highway speeds with no warning or signals from from the car that anything was wrong. I was driving on a curvy highway at 60mph when the steering started to feel a bit weird when turning to the left. At first it felt like irregularities in the road surface or something of that nature. A few moments later, it was clear that something was completely broken as the car would turn to the right completely normally, but had a wildly different amount of feeling and effort required to turn left at highway speeds. When taking a left curve at highway speeds, the steering inconsistently switched from taking several times more effort to turn the wheel (feeling as if components were grinding together) to being lighter than normal, oscillating back and forth between these feelings randomly. I distinctly remember that recall 6524A and the associated stop sale was for "2024 Mazda CX-90 vehicles that have a sudden increase in steering effort while driving" due to "A worm gear in the steering gear assembly may have excessive friction, leading to a sudden increase in the effort required to turn the steering wheel while driving" which said that "This sudden change in steering effort could increase the risk of a crash". I'm suspicious that the failure that I experienced is related to this original issue despite the recall being "resolved" for my 2024 CX-90. I can say with certainty that I'm lucky that I did not crash due to the issue. I'm extremely concerned that this failure poses an imminent safety risk for drivers in other CX-90s. I'm also concerned that Mazda created a new steering rack for later model years unaffected by recall 6524A and provided an ineffective fix to the original problem.

Confirmed cracked cylinder by dealership, led to dumping of oil while vehicle was in motion on the highway. Vehicle/engine could have caught fire at any moment. There were no engine warnings that appeared on the dash. This is consistent with other CX-5 complaints on NHTSA. Vehicle had 55,000 miles on it at time of incident, and needed $8,000 worth of repair. Please recall!!
