MERCURY Complaints

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the A/C fan was turned off and failed to turn back on. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the HVAC blower motor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Milan. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2009 Mercury Mountaineer. The contact stated while making a left or right turn, she heard an abnormal noise, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated that the Roll Stability Control (RSC) warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the Roll Stability Control (RSC) to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

Vehicle sub-frame broke at point where lower control arm attaches, causing Right front wheel to suddenly turn right. Sub-frame rusted through!

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was experiencing the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering) however, the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 238,000.

The LCM has failed during nightly driving causing a complete loss of headlights.

Power Steering Control Module Difficulty steering, loss of control No No No, 10/20/22

The contact's girlfriend owns a 2009 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated while driving approximately 15-20 MPH and making a turn, the steering wheel became inoperable. There was an abnormal beeping sound detected. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving in traffic and making a turn on a curve, the steering wheel was pulling to one side. There was a low beeping sound detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 154,204.

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the power steering assist fault message flashed on the instrument panel. The contact then stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number:14V284000 (Steering). The contact called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.

I was driving to the store, luckily only going 30mph. Suddenly the power steering stopped working, the message center displayed "service power steering now" and "service advancetrac" along with an illuminated light on the dash. I've looked into the issue and there is no recall for 2010 models. Only 2011. Knowing my way around cars, I've looked into purchasing a new steering rack and installing it but new they are $1000 or more. This issue needs to be resolved with a recall. Things could have gone a lot different if I was on the highway and this happened.
