2022 PORSCHE TAYCAN- San Antonio, FL
I am filing a complaint regarding a serious design flaw in the Porsche Taycan that allows road debris and rocks to damage its radiator fans and cooling system, posing safety risks. The radiator fans are critical for thermal management in this electric vehicle, cooling the high voltage battery, power electronics, and motors to ensure safe operation, optimal performance, and battery longevity. Damaged fans can lead to overheating, reduced power output, or system shutdowns, increasing the risk of accidents, especially during high-speed or demanding driving conditions. Numerous Taycan owners, including myself, have reported radiator and fan damage from small rocks or debris entering through the front grille or wheel well vents. This issue has caused loud fan noises, reduced cooling efficiency, or complete fan failure, with repair costs ranging from $2000-$7000. I recently had replace both radiator fans in the total repair cost was approximately $6800. Porsche attributes these failures to external road hazards, often denying warranty claims, and owners face costly repairs or filing claims with their car insurance company. The Taycan’s cooling system design is inadequate for a high performance EV marketed for diverse driving conditions, including gravel roads or roads that are going through the process of re-pavement. The exposed fans and radiators are prone to damage, compromising the vehicle’s safety and reliability. This widespread issue warrants a recall to address the design flaw, such as installing robust protective screens or redesigning the cooling system to prevent debris ingress. Without intervention, owners face ongoing safety risks and financial burdens. I urge the NHTSA to investigate and mandate a recall to ensure the Taycan’s critical cooling systems function safely under normal driving conditions.

On [XXX], I experienced the failure associated with the AH08 recall while driving on the highway. I promptly scheduled an appointment at Porsche Greensboro (Foreign Cars Italia) for December 31, 2024, at 8:00 AM (Confirmation Code: [XXX]) to address recalls AH08, AKA7, AKB1, and ANB4. Despite keeping my vehicle for 30 days, Porsche Greensboro did not complete any of the recall services and ultimately informed me that they could not perform the work in a timely manner, advising me to contact another dealership. Following this, I scheduled an appointment at Porsche Southpoint for February 3, 2025, at 9:20 AM (Confirmation Code: [XXX]), and Porsche Greensboro arranged to have the vehicle towed there. However, as of today, Porsche Southpoint has not completed the recall repairs and is requesting $12,000 (50% upfront) for engine disassembly related to failures stemming from the AH08 recall. This is deeply concerning, as recall repairs should be addressed promptly and at no cost to the vehicle owner. To date, my vehicle has been out of service for nearly six months with no resolution. I respectfully request your immediate assistance to ensure that the recall repairs are completed without further delay or financial burden to me, in accordance with NHTSA and Porsche’s recall obligations. I have included correspondence with both Porsche Greensboro and Porsche Southpoint for your review. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution. I can be reached at [XXX] or [XXX] . 2023 PORSCHE MACAN- Seattle , WA
When starting from a full stop and traveling approximately 25 mph, a car crosses in front of me. I make an emergency stop to avoid a collision. The car will then not shift out of first gear. I then must safely get off the highway, stop the car and when I restart the car everything works fine. This has occurred three times under almost the exact scenario over the first year of operation. This problem provides an unsafe condition for the car’s occupants as well as others on the road. I have had the car inspected by three separate Porsche dealers. Their position is that they can find no problem with the car, but have never tried to reproduce the event (to dangerous). I have volumes of reports from Porsche, all saying that they can find no problem with the car .

Porsche dashboard leather shrunk and staples pulled out. I was told that if the vehicle was in an accident the airbag might not deploy correctly. The Porsche dealer said it needs replacing. This is a VERY COMMON issue and Porsche is not recalling to fix. Please investigate and make Porsche correct this serious issue. Thank You

Horn does not function. There have been multiple times where I was nearly run off the road or had to quickly change lanes because another driver was not paying attention and I could not tell them I was there without my horn. The problem has been confirmed by the Porsche dealer I purchased the vehicle from and stated it would be more than $800 to replace the horn. They stated there is no way of fixing it and it would have to be replaced. My husband’s 2015 Porsche Cayenne is also having the same issue and I will be filing a separate report. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others. There were no warning lights or messages. I did notice the sound of the horn slowly getting weaker over a period of maybe 2 months until it eventually stopped making sound altogether. This all began approximately 1 year ago.
