THOR MOTOR COACH Complaints

This is a Thor Scope RV built on the Promaster 1500 platform. The incident involves the Onan gasoline powered generator, which is directly connected to the fuel tank. Next to the generator in the fuel line, there is a small white inline fuel filter connected by the fuel hose going over a nipple on the filter and reinforced by a hose clamp. In my case, the hose clamp was not installed sufficiently over the nipple (far enough back on the fuel hose that it did not completely engage the nipple), and presumably from vibration associated with the generator operation and driving, the hose fully detached from the nipple and spilled fuel in an uncontrolled manner until I smelled/noticed it coming out from under the vehicle. There was certainly sufficient fuel to have started a major fire if it had reached an ignition source. Fortunately, I was able to get under the vehicle and push the parts back together once the problem was noticed. But, this would not have been possible if there were any ignition sources nearby. Fortunately, the vehicle was parked and off when the spill occurred. Had I not been able to stop the leak, it is my understanding that 3/4 of the tank would have drained since I've been told that the intake is located at the 1/4 full level of the tank to prevent the generator from running the vehicle completely out of fuel. Photos attached show the part after I pushed the hose back on and tried to reposition the hose clamp closer to the center of the filter. This was very difficult to do while laying on the ground under the vehicle, so I didn't get it on as far as I would have preferred until I was able to get the vehicle to a place where I could elevate it and get better access.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford E-450. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V795000 (ENGINE) on the 2021 Thor Motor Coach; however, when the dealer was contacted to schedule an appointment for the recall repair, the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased recently. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2024 Thor Quantum RV. The contact stated that while parked with the engine idling, the RV started to vibrate and shake before shutting off. The contact was unable to restart the RV. The RV was later towed to the local mechanic. The local mechanic diagnosed the RV and determined that the fuel pump control module had failed due to condensation from the A/C drainage pipe leaking onto the module. The module was replaced, and the RV was repaired. The contact was informed that due to the design location of the A/C drainage pipe being directly over top of the fuel pump control module, the failure would probably recur. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the RV was pulling to the right. The RV was taken to the local mechanic, who was unable to properly align the steering wheel due to a manufacturer's defect. No further information was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 300.

During our last trip ending October 22, 2025 I had smelled propane from the bed occasionally when slide was out. I checked obvious components and found no propane leaks. After returning home and during winterization (Oct 26) I carried out a more comprehensive search for a possible propane leak. With the slide in (normal position when driving) I found the two propane hoses that supply range and water heater pinched and chafing on the slide wall. I can smell the propane slightly from area where lines are pinched. I feel if hoses are not replaced and continued use of rv a greater concentration of propane will constitute an unsafe condition. I have not had any other inspections other than myself.

Rear house battery tray weld failed, tray fell and hit the ground, damaging BIM, various cables etc. Identical to Recall 19V-566 (2019–2020) but not included for 2021.??Safety concern: Batteries may detach on roadway, cause shorts/fire, or total power loss.?

The contact owns a 2022 Thor Motor Coach Pallazo RV built on a 2022 Freightliner XC-S Chassis. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55-60 MPH, the front cap was shuddering, and the contact noticed that the windshield was abnormally moving from side to side. Additionally, a prior crack on the windshield was expanding due to the failure. The contact stated that upon arriving at the residence, the contact became aware that the windshield had cracked significantly. The RV was taken to an Auto Glass Shop, and the windshield was replaced. The contact was informed that upon installing the windshield, the windshield was 1-2 inches too low due to defective brackets. The RV was taken to the dealer. The dealer determined that the brackets needed to be reglued, and new bolts needed to be installed and tightened on the vertical side rails. The dealer performed the repairs according to the Manufacturer's instructions; however, the windshield continued to move abnormally from side to side while driving. The RV was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,160.

The contact owns a 2022 Thor Motor Coach Tellaro built on a 2021 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal thumping sound coming from the roof of the RV, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway to investigate. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the roof mounted solar panel had partially detached. Upon further investigation, the contact became aware that the solar panel had completely detached. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who declined to inspect the RV. The contact was advised to take the RV to a Thor dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V759000 (Equipment), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 28,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Thor Motor Coach Four Winds Motorhome constructed on a 2017 Ford E-350 Chassis and hauling a 17-foot cargo trailer. The contact stated that while traveling to another state in the mountains, the RV suddenly began to buck and lost motive power and stalled on several occasions. The contact was able to pull over safely. There were no warning lights illuminated. The RV was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the fuel module needed to be replaced. The RV was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. A mobile RV mechanic determined that the fuel module needed to be replaced. The RV was repaired, but the failure persisted. The RV stalled, leaving the occupants stranded for several hours, but eventually restarted. The RV was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that the OEM fuel module needed to be replaced but eventually used an aftermarket fuel module. The RV was towed to another local dealer, Harry Robinson Sallisaw Ford (2300 S Kerr Blvd, Sallisaw, OK 74955) where it was determined that the fuel module, fuel pump, and PCM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted, and the RV was towed back to the same local dealer. The manufacturer was contacted, who confirmed there was no warranty coverage on the RV for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint regarding Recall #21V-522 (NHTSA Campaign No. 21V-522) involving Lippert/Hehr windows. I own a 2019 Thor Motor Coach Challenger motorhome manufactured on 9/2018, which contains Lippert/Hehr windows that are exhibiting the same safety defect identified in this recall. Specifically, the adhesive bond between the glass and its supporting frame/rail has failed, causing partial detachment of the glass panel. While Lippert has stated that my windows are not covered because they were manufactured just prior to the official recall window, and that the defect is not a “seal failure” but rather a “rail detachment,” the functional hazard is identical: the glass panel is separating from the frame, creating a serious risk of detachment while in transit. I have already submitted extensive documentation to Lippert, including: •Photos of each affected window (interior and exterior). •Close-up photos showing the adhesive/rail detachment. •The official recall schematic identifying the part numbers of my windows, which match those identified in Recall #21V-522. Despite this, Lippert has refused to cover the repair under the recall, citing narrow technical distinctions and manufacturing dates. This refusal leaves me with multiple windows in my vehicle that present a significant public safety hazard consistent with the very defect NHTSA recognized in this recall. I am requesting that NHTSA review my case and determine whether Lippert is improperly limiting the scope of Recall #21V-522, and to require them to provide an appropriate remedy for my affected windows. The floor on my coach above the Catalytic converter has become soft. I am being told it is from the heat from the Catalytic converter. O called Thor and was told there should be a heat shield there campong world of Ashville says there is not a heat shield on it I have a picture no shield is present. I mistakenly told them something was cutoff during a recall I thought it was aa heat shield but it was something around the radiator. I have all service records nothing has been done around the Catalytic converter area. From other post on Thor forums this problems seems to exist in several of thor models. I have even read this could cause a fire and since it is at the exit door I would think they would take care of a problem that is probably less than $1000 to fix especially since their product is close to $200,000
