2024 VOLVO XC90- Las Vegas, NV
Driving on highway. Selected another route on map, but the screen lagged in response. Screen then went dark, shut off electronics on dashboard and infotainment, and AC turned off; seems like car also slowed down. Able to pull over and wait for everything to restart. Safety put at risk: sudden change in environment causing attention to shift to safely getting off road incase car shut off entirely. Previously: Infotainment has been off at start-up before; never had this problem while driving, though. One incident in drive-thru where I pressed infotainment and whole car shut off. Vehicle has been taken to dealership services for annual and as needed, codes have been ran extensively, and no faults have been found. The concerning incident occurred an hour ago so I have not brought to dealership yet, but seeing online that the problem is not just with my vehicle.

2022 VOLVO XC90- Chevy Chase, MD
The electrical/infotainment display failure causes the factory rearview camera image not to display when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. The center infotainment display on my 2022 Volvo XC90 intermittently goes completely black and remains inoperable for days at a time. When the screen is black, the factory rearview camera image does not display when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. All sound, including warning signals, is inoperable. Climate controls are also inaccessible through the screen, and inoperable. This has happened repeatedly: the screen goes dark for several days, returns temporarily, then goes dark again. The failure affects rear visibility during backing events and creates a safety risk because the driver cannot see the rear camera image. I brought the vehicle to a Volvo dealer. The dealer stated that the infotainment head unit must be replaced and quoted approximately $4,000 to replace it with the same non-Google system. Volvo corporate denied assistance. I believe this is a safety-related defect because the failed infotainment display disables the rearview camera function.

Brand new 2026 Volvo XC60 Plus with factory tinting of rear passenger, side & hatch windows. Vehicle purchased from Serra Volvo in Traverse City Michigan. I discovered an issue with the rear passenger windows. Unlike the smaller rear side & hatch windows, rear passenger windows are cloudy even after a thorough cleaning.

I have requested an appointment with my local Volvo dealership to investigate this problem with delamination of the windshield and All side/rear windows. The glass has developed a pervasive milky, cloudy, and fractured appearance. When driving in the direct sunlight or at night with oncoming headlights, the vision for the driver is distorted and causes a significant safety hazard. The vehicle is currently in pristine condition with fewer than 2000 miles when the problem was first identified. I have reported the problem to my local dealership along with Photos illustrating the problem and believe the windshield should be replaced since the vehicle is still under a full factory warranty. I have not yet received confirmation from the dealership that they recognize the severity of the problem, but I am concerned that others should be aware of this issue prior to purchasing similar vehicles from Volvo.

2018 VOLVO S90- mantoloking, NJ
ISSUE 1 – VOLVO ON CALL / VCM "SERVICE REQUIRED" MESSAGE: My vehicle has displayed a persistent "Volvo On Call Service Required" error message in the Driver Information Module (DIM) for over one year. This is directly covered by: • Volvo Technical Journal TJ 36916.1.0 (NHTSA ID: MC-10253788), issued April 2024 • Fault code: VCM-U105000 (Vehicle Communication Module) • TSB explicitly covers 2018 S90 vehicles • The TSB states the required software packages are free of charge I contacted Volvo Cars USA at [XXX] , who acknowledged the issue and arranged a complimentary diagnostic and fix with the Manasquan dealer. But, the dealer would not perform the diagnostic at no charge, leaving me unable to confirm the fault code or proceed with the TSB-specified remedy without paying out of pocket. I have had this unresolved warning message for over one year now. The dealer told me that if I did not pay for the repair my car could lose power and stop suddenly. ISSUE 2 – PARK ASSIST SYSTEM FALSE ALERTS: My Park Assist System sensors generate false proximity warnings for objects more than 20 feet away — far beyond the system's normal detection range. Cleaning the sensors did not resolve the issue. This is directly covered by: • Volvo Technical Journal TJ 31558.8.0 (NHTSA ID: 10161789), issued April 2019 • Root cause: Water ingress into park assist sensors and connectors due to a defective splice in the cable harness • Volvo introduced a harness splice correction in production starting June 2018 — meaning vehicles built before that correction may contain the defective harness • TSB covers 2016–2019 Volvo vehicles A malfunctioning park assist system is a direct safety concern — drivers rely on accurate proximity alerts when maneuvering, and persistent false alerts undermine confidence in the system and may cause drivers to disregard genuine warnings. Volvo has failed to repair or compensate me for the NHTSA Recall 25V-179. I received a notification of te recall in a letter dated May 14, 2025. I have repeatedly visited the local dealership as well as called Volvo Customer Care. Today, in a conversation with a Volvo Customer Care representative, I was told there is no timeline for the batteries to be replaced. I would like Volvo to rectify the issue by replacing my battery or car in a timely matter. Thank you for your help, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2025 VOLVO EX30- Little Rock, AR
I am filing this complaint regarding NHTSA Recall 26V103 (Manufacturer Recall R10362) for my 2025 Volvo EX30, VIN [XXX] . The recall was issued February 18, 2026 for a fire, overheating, and smoke safety risk due to potential overheating of the High-Voltage battery cell. The remedy requires battery module inspection and replacement, however Volvo has acknowledged that no replacement parts are available and has provided no estimated timeline for repair. I have not received any repair. No parts have been installed. No remedy has been performed on my vehicle. Despite this, my dealer marked recall R10362 as Closed on or around April 30, 2026 without performing any repair. When I contacted Volvo Cars customer care directly, they confirmed verbally that the recall remains open for my vehicle and that parts are still unavailable. However Volvo stated they will only provide written confirmation to the dealership, not to me as the vehicle owner. As a result of the unrepaired recall, I have been instructed to limit charging to a maximum of 70% state of charge to reduce fire risk. This has been in effect since February 2026. My vehicle has lost significant market value as a direct result. I am requesting NHTSA investigate the improper closure of this recall on my VIN without remedy being performed, and take appropriate action against the manufacturer and dealer. 2025 VOLVO EX40- Mill Valley, CA
Applied the brake while approaching a crosswalk and suddenly multiple warning notifications appeared on dashboard (brake failure, collision avoidance system not functioning, etc) and every warning light started flashing. Lost power steering and brakes. Had to swerve to avoid a pedestrian. Once stopped could not change the gear, engage the parking brake, or turn the car off. I was on a hill and needed to keep my foot on the brake pedal forcefully to avoid rolling down the hill into cross traffic. Firefighters chocked the wheels but could not disable the car. Car was towed to the dealership.
