  • 2022 CADILLAC ESCALADE
    - Hampstead, MD

There was a recall on my Cadillac Escalade regarding the engine. We had the vehicle inspected in the fall and were told that our engine was not affected and was safe to operate. However, on Sunday, March 8, the engine suddenly failed while I was driving on an exit ramp with children in the car. There were no warning lights or prior indications of a problem. I took the appropriate steps to have the vehicle evaluated under the recall, yet we were still placed in a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation due to the engine failure.

While driving on the highway at approximately 65-70 mph the Automatic Emergency Braking system engaged for no apparent reason, no vehicles were around or near our vehicle. The sudden and unexpected braking could have cause a major accident resulting in serious injuries or worst had our vehicle been rear ended.

  • 2021 CADILLAC ESCALADE
    - Corona , CA

    - What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The rearview backup camera system seems to be misaligned or improperly calibrated or connecting to the wrong camera when put into reverse. When the vehicle is placed in reverse, the camera image points downward and primarily shows the rear bumper rather than the area behind the vehicle. This significantly limits the rear field of view that the camera is intended to provide. -How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Because the backup camera view points downward and does not clearly show the area behind the vehicle, it does not show me pedestrians, small children, vehicles or objects directly behind the vehicle when reversing. This creates a risk of backing into a person, vehicle, or object because the driver cannot rely on the camera display to safely check the rear area. - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealership did confirm that this is an issue and advised me that they could not figure out what the problem is and sent me on my way without resolution. -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The component has been inspected by the dealership. They confirmed it has an issue by comparing the view with another Escalade. -Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps, messages, or alerts appeared prior to or during the issue. The backup camera display functions normally but consistently shows an incorrect downward viewing angle that primarily displays the rear bumper instead of the area behind the vehicle.

My front door latch doesn't work often leaving me locked out of the car. If the car is off I can use the auto roll down feature, but if the car is on i can't. This is a safety issue if I am in danger or my child is in the car.

  • 2024 CADILLAC LYRIQ
    - Antioch, CA

I experienced a complete electrical failure in my 2024 Cadillac Lyriq that prevented access to the vehicle while an infant was inside. The incident occurred when the vehicle’s 12-volt battery system failed, causing a total loss of electrical power and rendering the vehicle completely unresponsive. As a result of this failure, all electronic entry systems stopped functioning and the exterior door handles remained in the locked position. There were no warning signs or error messages communicated from the vehicle. Because the vehicle could not be unlocked or accessed from the outside, an infant was trapped inside the vehicle for approximately 27 minutes. Cadillac has been contacted and they confirmed a faulty 12 volt battery and since then replaced the battery. The incident was recorded by home security cameras and documentation has been preserved. This event raises a serious safety concern. A failure of the 12-volt battery should not disable all methods of entry into a vehicle, particularly when the design of the Cadillac Lyriq uses electronically actuated exterior door handles that remain recessed and locked without electrical power. This creates a situation in which occupants may be trapped inside the vehicle with no reliable means for outside access. The inability to unlock or mechanically access the vehicle during a power failure presents a significant risk of injury or death, particularly in situations involving children, extreme temperatures, or medical emergencies.
