Complete engine failure with vehicle only having 79615 miles on the vehicle. Vehicle was inspected by authorized Cadillac dealership and it was determined that the crank shaft/connecting rod had failed causing the engine to be replaced. Dealership communicated that issue was consistent with issue with known GM recall however vehicle was not covered under current recalled vin numbers at the time of engine failure.

    - Pittsburgh, PA

Having it at four different dealers have not corrected the infotainment screen, adaptive cruise control phantom braking, electrical display issues such as ambient temperature, malfunctioning fuel gauge. Check engine notification was on, they seem to have corrected that, the next notification was service rear axle. Back up camera fails intermittently. I have had it to the dealer nine times, GM won't do a buy back I guess until they are sued. Also, dealer changed the oil to a thicker viscosity due to the engine recall. All the above ongoing for a full year.

am experiencing multiple issues with my 2024 Cadillac XT6 that affect drivability and potentially safety: 1.Intermittent Transmission Shift Jerk •The vehicle occasionally exhibits a sudden “jerk” or abrupt shift while accelerating, mostly in 2nd–3rd or 3rd–4th gear. •The issue is intermittent and cannot be consistently reproduced during dealer visits. •The dealer has performed two transmission fluid flushes within one month, but the problem continues. •No diagnostic trouble codes are stored, making it difficult for the dealer to duplicate, but the jerks are noticeable and concerning while driving. 2.Startup and Engine/Transmission Noise •Upon starting the vehicle, I hear unusual noises described as [whining •Noise is also sometimes heard during idle or even briefly after the vehicle is turned off. •These noises occur intermittently, sometimes during cold start or light driving, and may indicate an underlying transmission, engine, or accessory issue.

  • 2020 CADILLAC CT5
    - San Bernardino, CA

The contact owns a 2020 Cadillac CT5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly stopped without the brake pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the message "Reduced Power" was displayed on the instrument cluster. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 10 MPH. The contact was able to drive the vehicle off the highway and then to the residence. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and saw several warning lights illuminated on the instrument cluster. The contact was able to clear the codes, and then the vehicle was driven to a dealer. The dealer checked and saw that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V148000 (Power Train) and proceeded to reflash the Power Control Module and install the transmission monitoring software. The vehicle was repaired. The contact informed the dealer that the rear wheels had locked up and which indicated transmission damage. The dealer performed the recall repair and informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact was advised that the engine was leaking engine oil. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the oil leak failure. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and advised the contact that there was no assistance that could be provided. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My engine completely failed and required replacement. It failed on the highway and luckily I was able to coast to an exit ramp. I had a repair shop replace the entire engine. There are complaints all over the internet about this engine and it failing. GM recalled the 2021 through 2024 engine, but this one is also faulty.

  • 2024 CADILLAC LYRIQ
    - Hot Springs Village, AR

I am submitting this follow-up to document new information and continuing concerns regarding my 2024 Cadillac Lyriq EV, which experienced sudden unintended acceleration during a parking maneuver. GM and its claims administrator (ESIS) have now completed their review and issued a denial letter on October 31 2025, stating “no defects were found.” However, the denial included no supporting technical findings, analysis, or data explaining how that conclusion was reached. Despite multiple written requests, GM has not provided the following key event-data modules: – Brake System Control Module (EBCM/iBooster) export (brake pressure, pedal position, brake override flags) – Propulsion/Drive Control Module data (torque request vs actual torque and accelerator input) – Front Camera Module metadata (timestamps and event record IDs) Additionally, several data discrepancies remain unresolved — including mismatched timestamps between the ASCM and FCM reports and camera images that do not correspond to the actual crash scene. On October 29 2025, GM publicly announced Customer Satisfaction Program N252521980, covering certain 2023–24 Cadillac Lyriq and 2024 Chevy Blazer EV vehicles for a Brake System Control Module software update due to possible brake-control performance issues. Because my incident involved loss of braking response, this recall appears directly relevant. I have requested confirmation whether my vehicle is affected and whether this module was analyzed in GM’s investigation, but have not received a reply. I am requesting that NHTSA review GM’s handling of this case to determine whether the engineering review was complete and whether the vehicle’s BSCM or related systems could be implicated in unintended acceleration or brake override failures. GM Case #1092995 – Submitted to ESIS/GM Product Investigations Group. Thank you for your attention and for documenting this matter in the defect database.
