Without prior warning my power steering went out. This could have been life threatening. I had to have it towed to the dealership (Voss Chevy, Centerville OH). The truck had 66,552 miles on it and the extended warranty that we purchased thru Voss expired on 26 Mar 2026 and although we were under the 75K mileage, they would not honor it (planned obsolescence?) So they replaced the steering gear for $2183. After researching, the literature says that diagnostic code C1599 (which is what Voss saw) indicated that the steering rack is completely fine mechanically but it has simply lost its electrical connection. In addition, literature says that a steering rack should last at least to 100K miles. There are also multiple issues documented on carcomplaints.com regarding the loss of power steering. Perhaps a recall is needed. In addition, I believe we were mislead as to what repairs were needed.

On XXX while traveling near the posted speed limit and entering [XXX], my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV FWD suddenly lost propulsion and no longer responded normally to the accelerator. My friend was driving. The vehicle coasted to a stop but remained partially in the travel lane, creating a serious risk of being struck from behind. I immediately activated the hazard flashers and contacted OnStar SOS. There were no warning chimes, and neither of us noticed any warning message. I did not think to check the dashboard gear-selection indicator during the event, so I cannot say whether it continued to show Drive or had changed to Neutral. After the vehicle stopped, I instructed the driver to place it in Park so it would not roll. After waiting several minutes for assistance, I attempted to restart the vehicle. It started immediately and subsequently operated normally. When I first asked my friend to move it, I initially failed to remind her that the brake pedal had to be pressed before shifting out of Park. Once the brake was applied, the vehicle shifted normally. I then drove it completely onto the shoulder and continued to our hotel without further incident. OnStar later performed remote diagnostics and reported no faults. The MyChevrolet app showed all vehicle systems as normal. OnStar also reported that the vehicle software was fully up to date and that there were no open recalls. The vehicle has continued to operate normally, but the cause of the sudden loss of propulsion remains unknown. No collision or injury occurred, but the event presented a substantial safety hazard because the vehicle became disabled at road speed and stopped partially in an active traffic lane. • 2024 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE
    - Topeka, KS

Vehicle: 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 Mileage at first incident: 25,821 My 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 experienced multiple safety-critical electrical and ADAS failures. The vehicle had a Reduced Acceleration / limp-mode event, accompanied by a strong antifreeze odor inside and outside the vehicle. Dealer diagnostics on 06/29/2026 and 07/16/2026 confirmed several trouble codes affecting the engine, braking system, and collision-avoidance systems. The following diagnostic trouble codes were recorded: P3705 – Engine Coolant Pump Control Circuit Low (engine cooling fault) C0609 – Park Brake Actuator / Switch Signal Fault (brake system logic fault)-Active 6.29.26 10:12:43AM U160A – Lost Communication With Serial Data Gateway Module (CAN-bus gateway failure)-Active 6.29.26 10:12:43AM U197A – Lost Communication With Front Radar Sensor Module (forward collision warning / AEB disabled)-Active 6.29.26 10:12:43AM These faults caused loss of radar-based safety features, including Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The vehicle displayed warnings and temporarily disabled ADAS functions. The Reduced Acceleration event created a hazardous situation in traffic. The dealer attributed the incident to “low coolant,” but the diagnostic codes clearly show electrical and communication failures across multiple safety-critical modules. The antifreeze odor continues, suggesting a possible coolant leak or unresolved cooling system issue. The vehicle has been inspected by GM technicians, and the codes were documented on both visits but they say car is fine. The safety systems affected include brakes, engine cooling, electrical CAN-bus communication, and collision-avoidance radar modules. I am requesting NHTSA to record this complaint and evaluate whether these failures represent a broader safety defect in the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71.

On numerous occasions, while driving either on highways or streets, vehicle would brake on its own or aggressive braking when this type of braking was unnecessary. I was hospitalized for whiplash in one incident. After braking for NO REASON!!! GM sent a tow truck to pick up my vehicle, and I have not heard back for more than 100 days. If GM cannot fix this issue as stated in [XXX] then I should be compensated for the lack of use and my medical bills as well as loss of use. Not having a recall does not mean DEFECTS are not occurring!!!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

    - Hudson NH, NH

Driving the vehicle down the highway at approximately 65 miles per hour, the check engine light came on and the engine went into limp mode, slowing immediately. Upon getting the vehicle to the left shoulder on a busy highway, the vehicle displayed "engine overheating", "battery low", and 0% oil life. A full oil and filter change had been done less than 1000 miles ago and upon checking the oil, it was at the correct level. The engine completely failed and is not being replaced at a Chevrolet dealership. I completed the recall N252494003 on March 5th, 2026 which comprised of an engine inspection, higher viscosity oil, a new oil cap, filter replacement, and owner's manual insert. The engine still failed and required replacement despite having this done.

  • 2027 CHEVROLET BOLT EV
    - MENLO PARK, CA

The main infotainment screen provides the critical safety rear view display screen for the rear view camera. This is a legally required function for this vehicle, a 2027 Chevrolet Bolt RS. The failure of the screen means that a clear view towards the back of the vehicle is unavailable. Reversing without the display is hazardous and may result in hitting an object, animal, or person. Online Chevrolet customer service suggested a soft reset. This did not solve the problem. The problem has been intermittent, but is now permanent. The vehicle, which has only 500 miles and is under its new car warranty, was brought back to a Chevrolet dealer. The dealer disassembled the screen and confirmed the screen failure. The dealer does not have the part. The manufacturer doesn't have the part. The dealer is ordering it from a 3rd party. There is no estimated time for receiving the part.

  • 2026 CHEVROLET TRAX
    - Parma, OH

The contact owns a 2026 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, the messages “Service Stabili-track” and “Steering Assist Reduced” were displayed. The vehicle was difficult to control while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the driver's side wheel speed sensor was not properly secured in the hub. The vehicle was test-driven for six miles. The dealer properly secured the wheel speed sensor inside the hub. The bolt was replaced and repaired. The manufacturer was notified, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 32.

    - Mesa, AZ

Truck was operating on the highway at highway speed. Suddenly the truck went into a drastic engine power reduction mode and severe automatic downshifting occurred; the truck came to a complete stop on the highway. Diagnostics proved to be a CP4 injector pump failure sending metal into the fuel system, needing a complete contamination kit and new CP3 pump conversion. This apparently is a known defect in GM vehicles and should have been recalled.
