  • 2021 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
    - Fort Worth, TX

I own a 2021 Silverado Trail Boss LT with the 6.2L V8. I purchased the vehicle new at Classic Chevrolet in [XXX]. In XXX, it experienced what I can only describe as engine failure. Severe knocking, loss of power, rough idling. I contacted the dealership as it was under warranty (it had approximately 45k miles at the time). They towed the vehicle in and performed repairs. I do not have service records but the repairs totaled approximately 12-15k dollars and involved several engine part replacements. I received the vehicle back after about 2 weeks. I later learned of the factory recall that was issued by GM affecting my truck and took it in for inspection. This XXX5. It was inspected and passed. They did replace the oil to a higher weight oil as recommended. In XXX it experienced the same issues as before. This time while driving on freeway. Sever engine knocking and loss of power. As I was on the way to work, I drove straight to the dealership to drop it off. After inspecting, they determined it warranted a replacement engine under the original recall. They kept the vehicle about 3 weeks and returned back to me in early XXX. It has been driving fine since then, but I am worried the replacement engine may have the same defects as the original engine. I went to the store and my brakes were working as normal. When I started my truck to leave I had a hard pedal and there we several warnings on the dash. One said to get service and the other said to limit speed to 43 MPH. I had almost no braking power. Fortunately, I was close to home and the speed limit was 30 MPH all the way home. Once I arrived home I cleared the code with my ODBII scanner and the brakes worked as expected. If I was towing my boat this could have been a bad situation resulting in an accident. I haven't had the same issue in several days however this has to be a huge liability for GM. I'm sure that this is a known failure mode for GM.

Coolant Control Valve is malfunctioning. Running Fans: Loud cooling fans running at full blast shortly after turning off the engine. Extended Warranty Coverage: General Motors issued special coverages (N252508341 / N252508340) extending coolant control valve warranty protection to 15 years or 150,000 miles for select 3.0L Duramax vehicles. Unfortunately, GM says my VIN isn’t covered by the extended warranty even though it has all the same issues as those that are.

  • 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU
    - Rochester, NY

I have a 2017 Chevy Malibu that in 2022 had a shift malfunction causing it to become stuck in reverse and roll backwards. It ended up having to be towed and was repaired in May 2022. On August 25 and 26, 2026 the car is now experiencing another SHIFT TO PARK malfunction whereby the vehicle DOES NOT detect that the shifter is in the park position. It shows a "shift to park" error on the car's dashboard and will not let me turn the car off until it detects it is in park which takes multiple times of shifting and cycling the car through the gears or repeatedly jiggling the gear selector. This is a temporary workaround and NOT a safe or satisfactory solution as this can cause a serious or even fatal accident! This Malibu seems to have a continuing problem with the shift malfunctioning and GM needs to recognize this is a continual problem and resolve it by recalling this issue AGAIN before someone is hurt or killed. I am requesting GM repair this at their expense or replace my vehicle as it seems to be a LEMON!

  • 2016 CHEVROLET CAMARO
    - South Holland, IL

I am filing an official safety complaint regarding a severe unaddressed factory design defect on my 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. The vehicle suffers from catastrophic water intrusion into the primary electrical system hub in the trunk during normal, everyday rain conditions. Due to a manufacturing or design failure in the rear trunk decklid seals and wiring harnesses, ordinary rainfall flows directly into the trunk floorboard. This standing water submerges the vehicle's primary battery, rear fuse block, and factory audio amplifier. This has disabled my infotainment/central command screen, causing a total electrical no-start condition. Most critically, this ongoing flooding creates a severe safety and crash hazard that compromises the vehicle's steering infrastructure. The previous Geneal Motor's safety recall regarding the electronic power steering (EPS) gear assembly losing connectivity when exposed to water was addressed, the unresolved trunk defect actively defeats that safety remedy. By allowing routine rainwater to freely pool over the main fuse block and electrical distribution network, the vehicle remains highly vulnerable to sudden, unpredictable power steering loss or total electronic shutdown while in motion. A vehicle that cannot withstand ordinary rain without experiencing total electrical failure and threatening critical steering components poses an immediate safety risk for me and my young children. I request that the NHTSA investigate this systemic trunk-flooding defect on the 2016 Camaro chassis.

  • 2021 CHEVROLET BOLT EV
    - San Diego, CA

The electronic steering gear (steering rack) on my 2021 Chevrolet Bolt has malfunctioned, causing the steering to feel rough, stiff, and sticky. Crucially, the steering wheel fails to naturally return to the center position after completing a turn, forcing me to manually pull the wheel back straight. This poses a severe safety hazard, as the vehicle will continue turning off the road or into oncoming traffic unless actively corrected, and the increased physical resistance makes precise lane adjustments difficult at highway speeds. There were no warning lights, error codes, or diagnostic messages on the dashboard prior to or during this failure, as the issue is strictly mechanical

  • 2024 CHEVROLET BLAZER
    - Bellaire, TX

There was a wreck up ahead, and two tow trucks with their emergency lights flashing were blocking the left two lanes. Traffic was stop-and-go due to the existing wreck. I was traveling in the lane to the right of the tow trucks as I approached. I stopped about 1–2 car lengths behind them. When traffic started to move, I began to move forward and advanced about a car length when the automatic emergency braking (AEB) activated and slammed on the brakes, even though the path in front of me was clear. The person behind me rear-ended me. Luckily, no one was physically hurt, but there is damage to our car that now has to be repaired, along with all the headache that brings. If this had happened at higher speeds, it could have resulted in serious injuries. My family’s safety and the safety of others are definitely at risk because of this phantom braking. I would welcome an inspection of the black box and AEB. Feel free to contact me if you can facilitate this. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the phantom braking. However, this has happened previously; this is the first time it resulted in a wreck. From what I’ve seen online, this appears to be a common problem, and the dealership does not have a definitive fix.
