Steering wheel frozen in position on morning cold start below 20 degrees Fahrenheit even when car is put in drive. I must warm the cabin for 15 minutes to thaw the steering column or manually pull down on wheel to loosen the column. Below 10 degrees, steering wheel is firm and power steering does not return wheel to original position going around turns unless physically coaxed. Problem goes away at warmer temperatures or if cabin stays warm. Chevy dealership replaced steering rack under warranty and recommends steering column kit be replaced. Will replace column by next fall. Problem started at around 60,000 mi. No warning lights or error codes when frozen.

2018 CHEVROLET MALIBU- Los Angeles, CA
In 2020, I received multiple red recall notices in the mail regarding a safety issue. I scheduled an appointment with a Chevrolet dealership in Los Angeles and have a voicemail confirming the appointment. At the time, I did not follow through with ensuring the repair was fully completed, which I take responsibility for. However, the vehicle has continued to experience the same dangerous symptoms. My vehicle continues to display sudden “Engine Power Reduced” warnings while driving at freeway speeds. The car abruptly slows down and limits acceleration, forcing me to pull over and turn the vehicle off and back on to reset it. During these events, the steering wheel becomes extremely difficult to turn, creating a dangerous situation, particularly at high speeds. The vehicle also appears to have ongoing issues with the push-button start/stop system. Although I did not pursue the issue further at the time, I am now seeking to have it properly addressed because the safety risk remains and another family member is currently driving the vehicle. When I recently attempted to verify the recall status, both the Chevrolet website and other sources show no open recalls. However, the symptoms persist exactly as before, I cannot find the little red notices that were sent but I do have a voicemail from someone at Chevy confirming the appointment that I made because of the recall notices. This issue presents a serious safety hazard due to sudden loss of engine power and steering assist on highways. I respectfully request investigation into whether the recall was improperly marked as completed. Furthermore, can you provide me with the full recall and service history on my VIN including closed recalls and warranty repairs? I know recalls do not expire so I’m confused as to why no one wants to help me now. I appreciate your time.

2020 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE- Redlands, CA
Failed/failing hydraulic timing chain tensionors. Common issue for this engine said to be caused by poor oiling. After speaking to many shops, this is just one of the many, very common issues that occurs in this vehicle. Started on February 20th, 2026. There are no warning or check engine lights on for this issue. People who are unfamiliar with the symptoms may be driving a vehicle that may suddenly stop running without warning as there is no light illuminated on the dash. Online it states that this may be caused by not performing oil change services on time. For my particular situation, I am a preventative maintenance specialist for the past ten years. I am professionally trained and perform PM services daily. I know my Traverse has been very well maintained and serviced with premium synthetic motor oil since my ownership. And despite this, I am now having to pay a significant amount of money to have this fixed or risk the safety of myself, my family and really anyone else on the road. My vehicle is available upon request any time.

2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Missoula, MT
Vehicle info: 2019 Silverado 1500 6.2L engine with 66,xxx miles. On 3/1/26 While towing my small snowmobile trailer I was driving on I-90 with cruise control set at 65 mph. Very suddenly and shockingly I heard an extremely loud knocking noise from the engine. I then witnessed several driver info messages stating things like "low oil pressure" "engine power reduced" among others and a check engine light. Amongst freeway traffic and now under no engine power and coasting I made an emergency lane change out of the passing lane and into the right lane and subsequently on to the shoulder of the interstate. Oil pressure was also noted to be very low during these events. I called a friend to pick me up off the side of the freeway and also had a local towing company get my truck and trailer off the side of the highway asap. This was a dangerous scenario and could've ended much worse. The vehicle is now at my residence and I am not sure what steps to take right now. As I am very aware of the current recall on similar models with the same engine. I have followed the issues and complaints of these trucks and suvs with the L87 6.2L engine closely. I was under the impression that my vehicle was not included in the recall and I have always been very diligent about vehicle maintenance. I've been watching my truck closely for abnormal noises, power or oil pressure loss or any other strange symptoms I have not noticed any warning signs. I even recently switched to the new dexos approved 0w-40 engine oil that GM is recommending and/or mandating. This was very sudden and scary scenario. I do have video of the engine noises if theyre. Theyre not currently formatted for this report

Warning light for low engine oil came on. We were stuck and couldn’t even put the vehicle in neutral to be towed out of the intersection. Had to call a flat bed tow truck to load it and take to dealership where it was confirmed the engine failed!!! Police did show up at the scene to facilitate traffic and the loading of th vehicle
