  • 2025 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
    - Saint Louis, MO

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart and was later towed to the local dealer and was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that a piston had exploded. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced with a remanufactured engine. The contact was concerned that the engine might experience the same failure as the original engine. The contact stated that the 6.2-liter engine had been under recall for previous model years under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and other vehicle owners' concerns. The failure mileage was 9,000.

Dealer checked the 6.2L motor for known defects. It "passed" inspection on 11/20/25 and got the thicker oil (OW-40). The engine lost propulsion ("died") 3 times on a 55mph State Highway on 02/09/26 with my 4 year old in the car with me. It died and came to a complete stop in one lane and would not re-start initially with cars almost rear ending us and needing to aggressively swerve to avoid hitting us. After 4 or 5 attempts it started again (making terrible grinding noises) so I could get it off the road before it died again. It started again to drive home on the back roads approximately 1 mile. Low oil pressure and check engine lights came on. I also received notifications from onstar and from the my Chevy app that there were severe motor or transmission problems. I scanned it with an OBD II Scanner and it has code P00016 (Camshaft Position Correlation - Bank 1 Sensor A). It got towed to the dealer and is now confirmed it is in need of a full motor replacement less than 3 months after they told me the motor passed inspection! This is not acceptable. To be told it's fine and then have it fail with my child in the car is extremely unsafe. Now I'm stuck trying to get a comparable loaner vehicle from the dealer to drive in the snow and mountains with my family safely while they expect to have the vehicle at minimum of 6 weeks. So far they have not found a loaner potentially putting my family in further danger by not having a 4X4 vehicle in a snowy climate.

  • 2018 CHEVROLET MALIBU
    - Cleveland, OH

I was driving on the freeway with my kids in the car at 60 mph and without warning I get an engine power reduced message and then my car losing power and starts dropping speeds down to 35 mph within seconds. I have cars speeding up behind me and I can't go any faster than 35 mph on the freeway so I am forced to quickly pull to the side of the freeway before I get hit. This was one of the post scariest situations for me any my children. I had to turn the car off and sit for awhile before I could start it back up and pray it made it home and didn't do it again. It has randonly done this for no rhyme or reason and no codes are showing when it's happening. I have no recalls on my car so this is something I believe Chevy needs to fix before someone gets seriously hurt.

  • 2021 CHEVROLET TAHOE
    - Cortland, OH

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving and attempting to slow down to approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact believed that the sound was caused by ice buildup on the mud flap, but shortly afterwards, the engine revved unexpectedly, with the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message “Reduce Acceleration - Drive with Care” was displayed. The vehicle started to coast unintendedly. The contact stated the vehicle returned to normal operation after a short while. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanics pushed the vehicle out of the parking spot before inspecting the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed with transmission valve body failure. The contact was informed that the transmission valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,342

    - Hillsboro, MO

Within the past two months, I have experienced multiple significant mechanical failures that raise serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. First, the air conditioning compressor failed at approximately 55,000 miles. This was an unexpected and costly repair for a vehicle that is only two years old and has been properly maintained. Shortly thereafter, the fuel pump failed. I became aware there was a recall related to the fuel system; however, when the dealership ran my VIN, it did not populate under the recall campaign. Despite this, the component still failed. Now, I am experiencing continued stalling and drivability issues, particularly when coming to a stop or when the automatic start/stop system engages at traffic lights. Based on the symptoms, I believe the secondary fuel pump may also be malfunctioning. A vehicle stalling in traffic creates a clear safety hazard. I rely on this vehicle daily, and repeated fuel system failures at this mileage are unacceptable. I am requesting the following: A full diagnostic review of the fuel system under manufacturer oversight Consideration for coverage or reimbursement of recent repairs Investigation into whether my vehicle should have been included in the applicable recall Assurance that this vehicle is safe to operate I have maintained this vehicle appropriately and did not expect major component failures at 55,000 miles. I am extremely concerned about both reliability and safety moving forward. Please advise on next steps and how Chevrolet intends to address this matter.

  • 2024 CHEVROLET BLAZER
    - Macomb, MI

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV (VIN: [XXX] ) due to an unresolved defect and repeated unsuccessful repair attempts. My vehicle has been presented to the dealership on four separate occasions for the same recurring mechanical noise issue. Despite these repair attempts, the defect has not been corrected. In total, the vehicle has been out of service for approximately thirty cumulative days. After the most recent repair, the same issue has again returned. I now have video documentation of the recurring defect. Additionally, during one of the repair visits, I was provided a gas-powered rental vehicle and incurred out-of-pocket fuel expenses, despite owning an electric vehicle. General Motors has declined to offer reimbursement for these expenses. Due to repeated unsuccessful repair attempts and the amount of time the vehicle has been out of service, I have formally placed General Motors on notice under Michigan’s Lemon Law and am pursuing review for repurchase or replacement eligibility. I am requesting assistance from the Attorney General’s office in obtaining a fair resolution, including reimbursement for expenses incurred and proper resolution of the ongoing defect. Radiator hose failed in under 1.5 Years on 2024 Chevy Colorado. Parts are back ordered for months, this is clearly a manufacture defect that could lead to overheating the engine and engine damage and failure
