2021 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN- Volant, PA
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while in reverse (R), the vehicle failed to reverse as intended. The contact’s wife continued driving at approximately 55 MPH, and an unknown message was displayed, and the vehicle failed to exceed 55 MPH. Additionally, the transmission was stuck in gear and failed to upshift into the next gear as designed. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, and the battery was disconnected and reconnected, but the message remained displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the transmission control valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,600.

2021 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500- Ripley , WV
The vehicle experienced a sudden and complete transmission failure at approximately 77,800 miles. There was no prior abuse or modification. The failure resulted in loss of normal drivability and required full transmission replacement. The transmission was replaced with a remanufactured unit due to catastrophic internal failure. Repair costs were approximately $7,000. I am aware of similar GM transmission issues and recalls affecting comparable model years and components. Although my VIN is not currently listed under a recall, the failure appears consistent with known GM transmission defect patterns. The failure occurred while the vehicle was in the middle of an intersection in heavy traffic, resulting in sudden loss of vehicle functionality. A child passenger was onboard at the time. The incident created a significant safety hazard due to loss of drivability in an active traffic environment.

2019 CHEVROLET BOLT EV- Shelton, WA
Water has infiltrated the lower trunk area and fried the sound amplifier. The result is no sounds can be heard from the speakers. This includes sounds and warnings from the safety systems. Seat belt, ADAS, BLIS, OnStar, Turn Signals, Radio. The rear hatch seals seem to be intact and it is unclear how water is entering this lower area as there is no evidence of water anywhere else in the rear cargo area. A google search reveals many other Bolt owners are experiencing the same issue

2024 CHEVROLET TRAX- North Attleboro, MA
My 2024 Chevrolet Trax which has 51,000 miles on it recently developed what appear to be a low end engine knock. This was accompanied by an increased vibration and shakiness in the car. While trying to bring the car to the dealer for inspection in preparation for a incoming snow storm the vehicle which at the time was parked on a hill seemed sluggish and struggling move forward. I felt with road conditions and the noise becoming louder and accelerating as the vehicle accelerates that the safer option was to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. This car despite having 51,000 miles with more than 85% of those being highway travel, has been regularly maintained above what the manufacturer recommends. Ive since learned through others who own the same vehicle that around the same mileage they have had the exact same issue with a few having an official diagnosis of failed rod bearing requiring a full engine replacement. Many of these incidents including mine did not prompt any warning light on the dashboard. Upon here that I came across multiple complaints of individuals Chevrolet Trax with the 1.2l engine completely throwing rods some while driving at highways speeds, and even after engine replacements some report they replacement engine did the same thing. Some of these reports date back to as early as 2020 with this engine being used in the Trailblazer. Its a matter of time before this blatant issue causes engine failure at high speeds and resulting in a accident with injuries or fatalities, not including the financial issues this has on anyone buying a marketed “”affordable” vehicle if this happens outside of warranty. GM must already be aware of this issue yet it continues to persist especially on the back of ongoing lawsuits over their engines excessive oil consumption and failures. My dealer has now had the car for two days and has failed to call me or return mall calls on my vehicles issue. Im assuming based on others situation it is another case of bad bearings.

2020 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE- Berkeley Heights, NJ
Vehicle: 2020 Chevrolet Traverse VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 50,100 miles Ownership: Original owner The driver’s seat belt intermittently fails to latch. This is a primary safety restraint system, federally required, and critical for occupant protection. The failure occurs randomly and cannot be reliably duplicated. The dealer inspected the seat belt buckle and confirmed no debris or obstruction. The dealer was unable to duplicate the issue during their inspection. Video documentation from the owner of the intermittent failure is available. This appears to be a premature mechanical failure of a safety-critical component. The vehicle is only 50,100 miles and properly maintained. Failure of the driver’s seat belt could prevent proper restraint in an accident, creating a serious safety risk. There are no open recalls related to this issue, and the vehicle is out of warranty. I contacted the manufacturer about goodwill assistance for repair. They confirmed that, since there are no open recalls, the issue cannot be duplicated, and the vehicle is out of warranty, they will not provide reimbursement or cost assistance. The driver’s seat belt should not fail during the expected life of the vehicle. At 50,100 miles on a 2020 Traverse, this appears to be a premature mechanical failure of a safety-critical component. I am submitting this complaint to document this issue for this vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2017 CHEVROLET VOLT- Bloomington, IN
Several years ago, when I was driving the vehicle, I got a sudden "reduced propulsion alert" and the onboard coolant temperature gauge showed a significant spike in temperature. To avoid overheating, I had to pull over on the side of the highway. In the onboard fuse box, there was a blown F3 fuse. I replaced the fuse and the same issue happened again last year. After some online research, it is clear that the EGR valve failed. Unplugging the valve and replacing the fuse has returned the vehicle to normal operations, but it's now out of compliance with local emissions regulations. GM has failed to properly produce replacement parts. As of Feb 11, 2026, a local GM dealer in Bloomington, IN quoted a backorder and unclear wait time on a replacement part and quoted me at $2,000+ just for the part. If not for my quick thinking, this part failure could have overheated my vehicle causing extensive damages. GM has failed to produce enough replacement parts and given the safety issues associated with a blown fuse and overheating, NHTSA should order a recall on this part and force GM to replace the parts for owners. This is a widespread problem documented among Volt owners, and the only stopgap issue is to drive the vehicle out of compliance with local emissions rules.

2022 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Gainesville, FL
I had the GM 6.2L motor recall test, it passed. Catastrophic engine failure at 50mph roughly 6000-7000 miles later. Luckily I got off the road safely. Confirmed by GM dealer, new engine has been ordered. No warning lights.

2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Harwich, MA
Transmission failed at 15000 miles. Attempted to shift to reverse and instead car went into neutral. Allowed me to shift into forward but quickly went into “limp mode” once underway. Seems like the same issue as many similar gm trucks have had with transmissions but my 2024 is not included in active recalls when searched by VIN. Suspect it probably should be since issue appears to be the same as those that are.
