2012 CHEVROLET EXPRESS- Oshawa ON, AR
ABS Valve Body / Pump Harness chafed through brake hydraulic line near transmission crossmember. This resulted in a hydraulic leak and loss of brake pedal feel / partial loss of brakes. Fortunately failure occurred in the driveway--I had 4500 Lbs of sailboat trailer hitched to the van and was about to go on a long trip. Design issue. Wiring harness should not be located so as to chafe on hydraulic lines. This is not the first chafe related failure on this vehicle.

2018 CHEVROLET EQUINOX- Falls Village, CT
I own a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving at highway speed, the brake pedal suddenly became completely rigid and could not be depressed. The engine continued running normally, there were no warning lights, and I had to coast into a parking lot because I was unable to brake normally. The vehicle was towed to a Chevrolet dealership. The dealership diagnosed a failed vacuum brake booster and replaced the brake booster at my expense. After the repair, the exact same safety issue occurred again while I was driving at approximately 25 mph. The engine was running normally, there were again no warning lights, and the brake pedal instantly became rock hard and would not depress. The repair did not resolve the condition, and I no longer believe the vehicle is safe to operate. I am reporting this because the same loss of brake assist occurred before and after the dealership’s repair.

There was a strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The driver was able to exit the vehicle through the rear window. The contact sustained injuries to the head, a gash on the leg, and had shrapnel embedded in the skin. Medical attention was provided. The driver was emotionally distraught. A Police report was filed. Upon research, the contact determined that the failure might be associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V372000 (Air Bags). The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 14,302.

2021 CHEVROLET MALIBU- Tempe, AZ
The car has an issue recognizing that the car is in park when trying to turn off the vehicle. A message on the dash will appear “Shift to Park”. The car has not been inspected for this issue, but it does repeatedly happen, not every time I turn off the car, but it happens pretty frequently. If I am unable to get the shifter to fully engage the computer then it won’t let me completely power down the vehicle and drains the battery. I’ve had to get a battery replaced before due to a mechanic moving my car after inspecting it for a different issue and leaving the “Shift to Park” signal on and ignoring it. This left me stranded with no battery and a mechanic denying remediation for the dead battery. Many other similar gmc models have the same issue as me.

2016 CHEVROLET CAMARO- Pineville, LA
Oh wow I don't even know where to start. The second I came home with the car for $32,995 off the used dealership it was a horrific disaster. I have replaced the rear fuse panel 2x already(water damage). The amp was fried from water damanage. The ambient lights and screen along with the gear lights only sometimes work. My morimoto aftermarket headlights wiring all have completely melted and needed to be replaced and that is just the small things. The car has always had severe driving malfunctions. These include: Jerking when putting into gear (any gear), shudders, it will rev up when i am braking, usuallu after a small hill or bump it will get really loud like it is in a much higher gear, it looses power and goes into random limp mode, the car has recently died in mid drive just completely lost acceleration power until it died. It will start right back up, but then same thing. Now when driving it will slightly jerk and steer to the side ever 3 seconds. Enough for me to hold the steering wheel tight. These are a few of the codes it reads, although some codes come and go, but these remain on: P12E7, P12EC, P12F4, P12F9, P0121, P0171, P0161, P0131, P069E, B097B, B1395, B1516, B1517, B260E, B260E, B2615, B2745, U0800, U1808, U0109, U007C. nOW MY BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE CAR IS SO BAD IT IS NOT DRIVABLE AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME THE PROBLEM. IT VIOLENTLY JERKS WHEN TURNING AS IF SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND GOING 50MPH. iT USUALLY DOES IT WHEN I TURN THE WHEELS SLOWLY LIKE ON TURNS, BUT IT ALSO DOES IT WHEN STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT AND THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN IT JUST BOOOOOOM. iT IS SO LOUD AND AND SO VIOLENT IT IS AS IF MY BACK END FELL OFF. aLSO THE TIRES ARE LOCKED UP AND WHEN I TURN IT MAKES MY TIRE SCREAM. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN GOING ON SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND GOT IT HOME AROUND 70K MILES AND NOW I AM AT 160K WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THEN SOME. The car twice now has driven itself when in park with car running. I put in park and was on phone at store and it drove

2023 CHEVROLET TAHOE- EMPORIUM, PA
I have a 2023 Chevy Tahoe with 45k miles. Today driving two kids home from our football practice I was driving along at around 40mph and all of a sudden the transmission downshifted and almost locked the rear tires up. If it was winter, wet, or cool, there is no doubt that the tires would have locked up. Check engine light came on, and now the vehicle wont move in reverse and at around 45-50 mph the engine is running at 3,000 rpms. I volunteer to be a youth football coach and always have a car full of children. This isn't normal or safe. P.s. I should've bought the Ford Expedition.

2020 CHEVROLET MALIBU- Moyock, NC
My 2020 Chevrolet Malibu experienced a sudden and severe electrical failure after driving through normal roadway water. Immediately afterward, the vehicle displayed multiple safety-critical warnings including loss of power steering assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) faults, brake control faults, and reduced propulsion. A GM dealership inspected the vehicle, scanned the modules, and found more than a dozen network and chassis-related diagnostic trouble codes, including: B3979, U0164, B1325, B3122, U0121, C0196, C0460, B1011, B097B, B3205, C056E, C056D, U0420, U1510, C0545, U0422. These codes indicate failures in the steering system, brake control module, stability control system, body control module, and multiple CAN-bus communication networks. The dealership confirmed: – No physical damage – No evidence of collision or impact – No evidence of flood damage – The suspected failed component is the electric power steering rack (GM part 85621696) – The part is not available, meaning the vehicle cannot be repaired – I would be responsible for diagnostic and repair costs This is a major safety concern. The vehicle can lose steering assist, stability control, and braking support without warning. The inability to obtain the required steering component makes the vehicle unrepairable and unsafe to operate. I am reporting this because this appears to be a systemic electrical/network failure affecting critical safety systems. I believe this defect poses a significant risk to drivers, passengers, and other motorists. The attached photo is a is a picture of the printout the Chevrolet dealership Service Manager provided to me.

2018 CHEVROLET BOLT EV- Jarrettsville, MD
Power steering assist cut out while driving and traction controllight came on. There is now no steering assist. The car is with the dealer shop and their diagnostics indicate the the steering column needs to be replaced. Dealer shop now says the steering column is on EXTREME backorder with no time estimate of availability. The car is almost impossible to steer at low speeds. The power steering rack and pinnion assembly was replaced back in August of 2023 due to the rack binding, so that part is realatively new.

2018 CHEVROLET VOLT- Houston, TX
While driving on a highway the car started to hesitate, a message appeared on the console "Propulsion power is reduced" and the engine light turn on. After driving some miles, a new message appeared: "Engine unavailable, service soon" and the car only ran on electric power, no motor engine. I had the same problem 3 year ago and the dealer identified the problem as a shorted EGR valve. This time I knew this shorted EGR valve burns the F3 fuse. I managed to get to a car part shop and bough several fuses (15 amp). After replacing the fuse 3 times I managed to get to the dealer. The repairs cost $3000+ (up from $1000+ 3 years ago). This problem is well documented on the GM service technical bulletin "21-NA-116" dated February, 2023. Three years ago I was in the middle of nowhere in South Texas and it took 6 hours to get a tow truck This time I was lucky enough to be close to to a town that the remain battery power was enough to get to the store where I bought the fuses. GM should recall this part and do a proper fix
