I own a 2022 Genesis G70. The driver’s-side front headlamp assembly has developed significant and persistent moisture/condensation inside both sections of the lamp. The condensation does not clear during normal driving or after the lights have been operated for more than 30 minutes. The problem has now progressed from moisture inside the assembly to an electrical lighting failure. The driver’s-side front turn signal is no longer functioning, the vehicle displays a “Check turn signal” warning and master warning indicator, and the turn signal hyperflashes when activated.

On XXX, I was taking my Genesis GV70 out of the garage, while going reverse the car would not stop, the car’s reverse parking collision-avoidance assist did not work, the car continued by going over my mailbox, crossed the street, went over a cable box, went up the hill and stopped by taking a tree out of the ground. The car was pronounced total loss by Geico. Geico’s claim # XXX. The car is now at Copart, phone # [XXX], [XXX], lot # XXX. I have opened up a case with Genesis to have the car inspected by a professional to find out malfunctioning of the rear collision avoidance assist. I had to pressure Genesis to hire a professional to inspect the car but they are taking an enormous amount of time to get back to me with an explanation. This car has stalled 3 times. Randomly, but each time while car was fully stopped. Once when I was sitting in a parking lot about to pull into traffic, and when waiting for a light to go from red to green. After these two times I took car to dealer. They ran diagnostics and said there were NO error codes. They tried to reproduce but could not. I asked them to reset all computers in car, which they did. But it happened again yesterday. This third time, weather is nice, about 68 degrees. I had been driving about 3 miles, waiting for a light to change. I believe the car went into “Auto stop”, like usual, but when light changed and I took foot off brake, car stalled. It then BEEPS rapidly at me, and I believe the warning message says something like “Can not start car in Drive, please put in Park”. As cars are behind me and honking furiously, I put drive selector into P, and push start button, it starts and I drive away. Safety issue is cars behind me, expecting me to move, and I can’t. I worry about being rear ended. Each time I believe car had gone into “Auto stop” mode to conserve gas. Each time Weather was clear and normal. One time it happened with my wife in car. I was not fiddling with any controls. I have other cars with “auto stop” and this never happens. I only use brand name high octane gas. I am contacting dealer about this third incident, but don’t have much hope that they will find anything to fix. Have you had any other complaints like this from other owners of this car? I saw that in past Genesis has had recall for faulty fuel pump. Is this maybe another fuel pump defect?? Thank you.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the two local dealers had shut down, and the other authorized dealers were extremely far away. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was filed. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The vehicle intermittently and unexpectedly shifts itself from Drive (D) into Park (P) while completely stopped in active traffic. When traffic moves and the accelerator is pressed, the engine revs safely in place, but the vehicle does not move because it has uncommandedly entered Park. The driver must quickly apply the brake and manually shift back into Drive to avoid being rear-ended. This has occurred on 6 separate occasions within the first two months of ownership, creating an immediate, severe collision hazard at active intersections. Dealer/Manufacturer Actions: The vehicle is currently on its 3rd service visit at Genesis of Lindon for this exact issue and has been out of service since August 10, 2026 (accounting for 11 business days on this visit alone, and over 20 calendar days total across all visits). The dealership has been unable to replicate the intermittent electronic/software fault during limited 15-mile test drives. No error codes are stored, and no dashboard warning chimes or lights appear when the uncommanded shift occurs. A corporate case has been opened with Genesis Motor America, and a formal written notice under the Utah New Motor Vehicles Warranties Act has been submitted. The vehicle is currently deemed unsafe to drive by the owner and remains at the dealership.

This vehicle experienced an engine overheating failure while driving, five days after a cooling-system repair (radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs) had been completed at the dealership. The dashboard displayed an explicit "Engine has overheated" warning, and the vehicle could not continue to be driven. The vehicle was returned to the dealership. Per their own written statement, there were "no signs of engine damage related to the overheating concern" at that time. The vehicle's own mileage record shows it did not leave the dealership's lot for nearly a month afterward, despite a written claim that the shop foreman had personally test driven it before release. After that release, a fractured metal bracket was found in the engine compartment near the serpentine belt, along with multiple additional loose, missing, or unseated fasteners throughout the engine bay. The dealership's technician stated he had no reason to have inspected that area. The cause of the fracture and the discrepancy with the technician's account have not been resolved. Separately, the vehicle's Lane Keeping Assistance/Lane Departure Warning system has been non-functional, was twice described by the dealership's technician as "working," and both times disproven by independent testing showing the system displaying "system off." The vehicle has also been producing smoke while driving and idling, consistent with a fluid leak burning off a hot engine component, accompanied by a worsening chemical/exhaust-like odor in the cabin, not yet diagnosed. This is reported given the overheating history, the undiagnosed cabin odor with possible carbon monoxide exposure risk, and engine-bay damage discovered following dealership service, in case relevant to safety monitoring of this repair pattern.

I own a 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T Twin-Turbo V6, VIN [XXX], with approximately 122,000 miles. Twice within approximately two weeks, the vehicle has suddenly and unexpectedly experienced a near-total loss of propulsion while being driven. Without warning, the engine begins shaking and sputtering severely, the Check Engine Light illuminates, and the vehicle provides almost no usable acceleration. The engine does not completely stall but operates barely above a stalled condition. After safely stopping, turning the vehicle off, and restarting it, normal engine operation and full power immediately return and the Check Engine Light extinguishes. The vehicle may then operate normally for days before the condition occurs again without warning. This creates a serious safety hazard because the failure could occur while traveling at highway speeds, merging, changing lanes, or crossing traffic. A sudden near-total loss of propulsion under those circumstances could result in a serious or fatal collision. I have found reports from other Genesis G70 owners describing substantially similar intermittent loss-of-power conditions that temporarily resolve after an ignition restart. Genesis has also issued safety recalls involving G70 powertrain-related conditions, including NHTSA Campaigns 24V-528 and 24V-191. I have formally notified Genesis Motor America in writing and requested immediate investigation and repair. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA has an independent record of this recurring and potentially dangerous loss-of-propulsion condition and can determine whether it represents a broader safety defect affecting Genesis G70 vehicles. On June 18 at approximately 9:50 p.m., I was driving my 2026 Genesis GV80 (6,493 miles) on a highway where traffic was reduced to one lane due to road paving. Traffic was heavily congested. I came to a complete stop behind a tractor-trailer on a flat/level roadway and remained stationary for approximately 30–40 seconds with my foot on the brake. The vehicle's automatic start/stop feature had been manually disabled. While completely stopped, the vehicle unexpectedly began moving forward toward the tractor-trailer despite my foot being on the brake pedal. I released and reapplied/pumped the brakes multiple times, but the vehicle continued moving forward. The brake pedal felt normal. I attempted to place the transmission into Park, but there was no response and no warning or message. The vehicle continued forward and contacted the rear of the tractor-trailer. After contact, the vehicle stopped and I was then able to place it in Park. When traffic began moving, I put the vehicle back into Drive. Because heavy traffic prevented me from safely exiting the lane, I remained in place but left additional distance from the tractor-trailer. The same condition occurred a second time: while again at a complete stop, the vehicle began moving forward with the brake pedal fully depressed. This time, I was able to place the vehicle in Park before contacting anything. There were no brake, transmission, or other warning lights/messages during either occurrence. However, the vehicle displayed a notification indicating I was making a telephone call when no call was occurring; it appeared to reference a call from earlier that evening. The unexpected forward movement occurred twice during the same driving event.

At approximately 68k miles, I observed hesitation when pulling away from a stop in our 2023 GV80 2.5t AWD Prestige. At 71,300 miles, we observed an increasing howling noise from the rear of the vehicle, primarily at coasting, with various tones emitted during application and release of the accelerator pedal. The rear differential fluid was drained for inspection, and there were metal shavings accumulated on the drain magnet, discolored (metallic shavings) fluid, and visible shiny metal flakes in the drained fluid. The differential is close to total failure on this vehicle. Hyundai has issued a TSB, so it is known, but they are not recalling this extreme safety hazard that has been reported for several years across many owners. A quick search of various owner forums reveals this truth. Moreover, replacement differentials do not improve the issue, often having to be replaced themselves only a short time later.
