2023 GENESIS GV70- Naples, FL
The windshield cracks and chips very easily. Long crack lines develop after windshield obtains a small chip from a small rock. This is the third windshield replacement in a year’s time. Windshield is too thin and could create a dangerous situation. Reported to my auto insurance company. Other Genesis GV 70 owners have reported similar problems

Dear NHTSA Safety Team, I am writing to report a potential safety-related defect involving my vehicle and to request confirmation that this concern is properly documented. I own a 2023 Genesis GV70. The interior door panel material on both front doors is peeling and delaminating under normal use. The material separation exposes loose and sharp edges on the door panels, creating a potential risk of cuts or injury to vehicle occupants and interfering with normal use of the door area. The condition appeared prematurely and has worsened over time. The dealership inspected and documented the issue but declined repair. No crash or injury has occurred, but I am concerned about the ongoing safety risk. Please advise if any additional information or documentation is needed. I have photographs available upon request. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Electrical failure. Car was stuck in neutral on a hill with houses behind. Could not put in park, apply hazard light, or apply emergency brake. Could not exit the car safely due the fact if you took your foot of the brake the car would roll backward down hill uncontrolled. Steering was very stiff or locked so is was impossible to direct car to safe spot at the bottom of the hill. Have video documentation.

The contact owned a 2018 Genesis G80. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed during the night, a deer hit the contact's vehicle on the front passenger side. The vehicle spun around and ended up in a "grass hill" where it came to a stop. The driver-side air bags did not deploy. However, the front passenger and side curtain air bags were deployed. The front passenger-side control arm detached from the vehicle due to the impact. The police were called and filed a police report. The contact and the passenger were not injured. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a field inspector from Genesis stopped by the Hyundai dealer to retrieve the Event Data Recorder (EDR). The inspector informed the contact that the Event Data Recorder (EDR) showed that the contact's vehicle was a GV80. The contact stated that her vehicle is a G80. The field inspector then requested permission from the contact to retrieve the information from the Event Data Recorder (EDR) to change the vehicle information to a G80. The contact refused. The contact stated that the Genesis application on the contact's phone provided the following codes: B1378, which meant that the "Side Airbag Front-Driver Resistance is too High," and B1649, which meant "Crash Recorded - Rollover Event." The dealer replaced the control arm. The air bags were still deflated. The vehicle is at the contact's residence. The insurance company was informed. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

On [XXX], the vehicle was started and there were no brakes, the pedal went down to the floor. The car was turned off, restarted and again there were no brakes. The third time the car was restarted, the pedal went to the floor and then the brake pedal came back up with pressure in the brake lines. The vehicle displayed the warning "check brake system". The car was not driven. The next day, [XXX], a wrecker arrived to tow the car to Bergstrom Genesis, the car was started and again had no brakes. We were told that it was software problem and were given the vehicle back on 12/10/25. On [XXX], while driving the vehicle, the "check engine" light was displayed. The vehicle was picked up by Bergstrom Genesis and the dealership has had the vehicle since 12/11/25 to make sure the brakes don't fail again INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am writing to formally report a serious safety defect in my Genesis vehicle and to request immediate investigation, documentation, and corrective action. Following a recent crash event, my vehicle’s diagnostic scan revealed DTC B1378, which is associated with a fault in the airbag system circuitry. This code is widely recognized as an indicator of an airbag defect and is consistent with conditions that warrant manufacturer recall. During the crash: - Multiple airbags deployed, - The steering-wheel airbag did NOT deploy, - The SRS system recorded a crash severe enough to trigger other airbags, - The vehicle now displays B1378, confirming an internal fault. The failure of the primary driver airbag to deploy during a crash is a critical safety malfunction. Combined with the presence of B1378, this raises substantial concerns regarding a defective airbag module, wiring harness, or sensor — all of which fall under manufacturer responsibility and federal safety standards. I am requesting the following: Immediate corrective action, including repair or replacement of all defective components. Documentation of this issue in your internal safety-defect tracking system. Given the severity of this failure and its implications for driver safety, I am also submitting this information to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for review. Please confirm receipt of this letter and provide a written response outlining the next steps. Sincerely, [XXX] Hagerstown, MD --- INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The Instrument Cluster Screen went blank (OFF) while driving 65mph on the freeway. The vehicle mechanically kept functioning. I had no gages. The system began to reboot within a few seconds as I was attempting to pull over to the shoulder of the freeway. My vehicle continued to function normally so I drove home. My wife was very startled and shaken. This happened again so I took vehicle to the dealership service dept. where they performed a diagnostic test finding “ technical glitches” as I was told. They ordered a new screen. I drove off with my car until a new screen arrived two weeks later. The screen again went blank on the city streets a day or so before the new screen arrived. I only drove my car as necessary while my wife refused to do so and never had other passengers. I surrendered my car for repairs on Nov.14, 2025 and have not retrieved my car as of today, Jan.7,2026. I became aware during the many repair delays that the dealership was negligent in allowing me to drive off in an unsafe vehicle. They should have provided a loaner until the repairs were completed. I am currently addressing these issues with Genesis Customer Care as a special case team has agreed that my car is now a “Lemon” under Nevada Revised Statutes. We are in negotiations under repurchase. My vehicle also had the two front seat belts replaced for malfunctions on Oct. 7,2025. This was my second GV 70 that I purchased new on May 2022.

There is a known issue with these vehicles where the Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch triggers at idle and low RPMs but nothing is necessarily wrong other than the sensor itself. However, since the sensor malfunctions, owners can’t know if the pressure is actually bad or if oil levels are normal. This is a safety concern for all owners. However, Genesis is requiring owners to pay around $3000 to repair this. Most of the models are 2017-2019, which are past its manufacturer warranty years.
