I purchased the vehicle on [XXX], signing purchase contract and paying deposit of $10k. Monday 06/08/26, I received a call from dealership that they need to recoup the vehicle due to safety recall, explaining that they shouldn’t have sold it to me. Apparently, the recall was initiated on 03/02/26, and as of today, “Remedy not yet available”. The sales person, dealership or manufacturer, can not tell me if/when a remedy is coming. It’s been 4 months since recall was initiated when no indication when a remedy is a available. How long should it take for remedy be available? while driving the vehicle, the driver's seat moves to the furthest position, away from the steering wheel and pedals. The memory position or forward/back control does not work consistently to put the seat in a more comfortable seating position. This is a random occurrence that can happen several times a day everyday or once or twice every other month. It is unsafe during taking off from a light, as the seat moves back I can barely reach the accelerator. During braking, it's harder to apply pressure to the brake pedal. Also, my mirrors are harder to use because of the different seat position. I have an appointment coming up but it will have been well over a month since I told the service department. I have some video of the controls not working after the seat has moved back, but it is harder to get video while the seat is moving back and I'm driving. This has been an issue since SEP 2025 or so, but it has been happening a lot more recently this past month

This complaint is a follow-up to NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 regarding the same unresolved safety defect. Since those complaints were filed, the vehicle has now been involved in a SECOND defect-related crash. I repeatedly begged Genesis not to return this vehicle to me because I believed it was unsafe to drive. They refused to state the vehicle was safe or unsafe. No risk to them.Genesis scheduled a fourth repair attempt, took possession of the vehicle, but did not repair or even diagnose the steering and braking defects before returning it to me. Despite my repeated warnings that someone could be seriously injured or killed, I was forced to continue driving a vehicle that was unsafe. On June 24, 2026, while traveling approximately 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly veered right. The steering became unresponsive, and the brakes behaved abnormally, causing me to leave the roadway and fly into a ditch. I struck my head, and this crash closely mirrored the first defect-related crash on March 29, 2026. This occurred after four repair opportunities and after Genesis had actual knowledge of the repeated steering and braking failures. The defects remained unresolved when the vehicle was returned to me. NHTSA states that “vehicle safety is the top priority” and encourages consumers to report defects that create “an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.” I believe this vehicle presents exactly that type of ongoing safety risk. Two crashes involving the same unresolved steering and braking defects should warrant immediate review. I am also undergoing cancer treatment and have recently developed heart palpitations. The stress of repeatedly being placed in a vehicle I warned was unsafe is unacceptable. My life, my passengers’ lives, and the safety of the public are at risk. Please associate this complaint with NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 and investigate these recurring steering and braking failures before someone is seriously injured or killed.

The centre console screen has completely failed and has gone black. Yes, the screen is available for inspection upon request. The screen houses access to most safety systems in the car, including the reverse camera, front camera, collision avoidance system settings, lane safety settings, blind spot monitoring settings etc. Lack of access to these systems makes driving the car less safe Yes, the problem has been reproduced by a Genesis dealer The dealer had the car for over 2 weeks but was unable to find any fault codes. They were unable to diagnose the root cause of the issue, and no fix was suggested The screen used to flicker once in a while before going blank. It did this for a few months, but always came back on. Since Dec 2025, the screen has gone blank permanently

On June 23, 2026, while operating my 2021 Genesis GV80, the vehicle's entire infotainment and system software rebooted without warning as I was leaving a parking lot. As a direct result of this reboot, the driver seat automatically moved out of my saved position. I was no longer able to reach the pedals and could not properly control the vehicle. This incident occurred while the vehicle was in motion. It took me several minutes to safely bring the vehicle to a stop, at which point I turned the car off and restarted it. Upon restart, all of my saved settings had been wiped. This is a safety defect, not a minor software issue. A seat repositioning without driver input while a vehicle is in motion constitutes a loss of vehicle control. Had this occurred at highway speed the consequences could have been fatal. I am aware that Genesis issued Safety Recall 031G for mid-drive infotainment reboots on other GV80 model years. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether this defect extends to 2021 model year vehicles and whether a recall expansion is warranted.

While driving home, I engaged the self-driving feature. The vehicle immediately speeded up, and aggressively veered to the left, causing it to exit the roadway onto the grassy median, where it struck several of the metal rails and plastic pylons. This malfunction resulted in a dangerous loss of control that could have resulted in a far more severe collision. Please note the following details regarding the vehicle and its history: - Ownership: I am the second owner of the vehicle and have owned it for less than one year. The previous owner was a rental car company. - Prior Service History: I have previously taken this vehicle to the dealership on two separate occasions specifically to address concerns regarding the self-driving system pulling to the left. In both instances, I was informed that no issues could be identified. Given that this is a recurring issue that has now resulted in a collision, and my car being totalled by my insurance. I ask that you open a formal investigation into the safety and functionality of the self-driving option for this vehicle. (2024 Genesis G70 Stantard)

Vehicle was parked in a residential garage with the engine off. A [XXX] child was secured in a rear driver-side car seat. The key fob was inside the vehicle on the passenger side. After the final door was closed, an adult immediately attempted to reopen the driver's door and found it locked. All vehicle doors were locked despite the key fob remaining inside the vehicle. No warning beeps, alerts, or messages were observed before or during the lockout. The cause is UNKNOWN. The vehicle appeared to lock with the key fob and child occupant inside. The outside temperature was approximately 90°F, and the garage was significantly hotter. The child was trapped inside for approximately 5–7 minutes, crying and visibly sweating. Because access could not be gained through any door, the passenger-side window had to be broken to rescue the child. This incident created a serious safety risk due to heat exposure and the inability to access a child occupant. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or dealer at the time of this report. The suspected malfunction involves the electronic door locking and/or key detection system, but the exact cause is UNKNOWN. The Engine Control Module (ECM) malfunctioned. The dealer replaced it with a new one. When it malfunctioned, the car would not accelerate to a speed greater than 20mph. This was dangerous because I was driving on a state highway where the speed limit is 55mph, and I could have been rear-ended. Since having the ECM replaced, the car's performance has been fine. The Check Engine light did activate more than one day before the incident, which also sent a message to the Genesis app on my phone.
