  • 2020 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER
    - Sparta , NJ

    **Component/System:** 48V Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle system, including the DC/DC converter subject to JLR recall D126, MHEV battery/Battery Energy Control Module, starter generator/alternator system, 12V charging system, telematics control module, and related vehicle communication/electrical modules. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. **Description of Complaint:** My 2020 Land Rover Range Rover P400 MHEV, VIN [XXX], experienced serious electrical and high-voltage/MHEV system failures involving the 48V mild-hybrid system and DC/DC converter system. Before the original failure, the vehicle displayed the warning message **“High Voltage Shutdown Not Possible — System Live.”** The warning would appear on the instrument cluster while driving. The vehicle later displayed **“Stop Safely — Electrical Fault Detected.”** The vehicle then shut down while in operation, and steering assist was lost/steering became locked or extremely difficult to control. This created a serious safety risk because the vehicle lost power/drive functionality and steering assistance while being operated. The vehicle was taken to Jaguar Land Rover Parsippany for the D126 DC/DC converter recall/interim repair. The DC/DC converter is part of the 48V MHEV system and manages power transfer between the 48V and 12V electrical systems. After the D126-related repair, the vehicle would not start at pickup and had to be jump-started. The dealer later diagnosed a telematics control module issue/parasitic draw, but the vehicle continued to have electrical and high-voltage warnings. After the interim DC/DC repair, the **“High Voltage Shutdown Not Possible — System Live”** warning returned while driving. The malfunction indicator/check engine light also came on.   • 2022 LAND ROVER DEFENDER
    - Ponte Vedra Beach, FL

    While driving my 2022 Land Rover Defender 110 (16,658 miles), the brake pedal suddenly went soft and sank to the floor. Braking became severely degraded and effectively useless. I was able to slow the vehicle using engine braking and bring it to a stop safely. Multiple warnings appeared simultaneously, including brake system warnings, amber ABS and DSC lamps, and a "stability control not available" message. There was no crash, fire, or injury, but the loss of braking created a serious risk to me and the surrounding traffic as I was making a left onto [XXX] against oncoming traffic on [XXX] The vehicle was not driven further and was taken to an authorized Land Rover dealership for diagnosis. The dealership's diagnostic scan confirmed DTC C055E-7A ("Brake Hydraulic Circuit A Leak – Fluid Leak or Seal Failure") logged on XXX, along with related code C055E-64. This confirms a hydraulic fluid leak or seal failure in the service brake system, consistent with the total loss of pedal pressure I experienced. The manufacturer has issued Special Service Message SSM 74988 addressing this exact DTC on this platform (Defender L663, 2020 model year onward), indicating awareness of this failure mode. There were no warning lamps or symptoms prior to the failure — it occurred suddenly with no advance indication. The vehicle and diagnostic records are available for inspection upon request. Root-cause diagnosis by the dealership is in progress; the suspected sources are a hydraulic line, caliper, seal failure, or the integrated brake unit (which combines the booster, master cylinder, ABS pump, and control module in a single assembly on this platform).   • 2026 LAND ROVER DEFENDER
    - Las Vegas, NV

    The transmission has failed twice while the vehicle was in motion, causing loss of gear control and, on one occasion, loss of parking brake function. Incident 1 — March 24, 2026: While driving on the highway, the transmission failed and the vehicle entered a "safety mode." The vehicle was in dealer service for 8 days at Findlay Land Rover. Incident 2 — July 4, 2026, approximately 9:55 AM, at 6.1 miles into the trip, near South Buffalo Drive / Summerlin Parkway, Las Vegas, NV: While making a right turn off the Summerlin Parkway exit, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral with no prior warning. A check engine light and "Gearbox fault detected" alert appeared on the dashboard. The vehicle coasted downhill and my worker was able to steer it to the shoulder. Once stopped, the gearshift would not engage any gear other than neutral, and the electronic parking brake also failed to engage. My worker kept his foot on the brake pedal continuously and did not turn off the engine, fearing the vehicle could not be safely towed otherwise. A tow was requested at 10:09 AM and arrived at 11:01 AM; at that point the parking brake functioned again, and the vehicle was winched onto the tow truck. The vehicle was dropped off at Land Rover Las Vegas at 11:41 AM. Upon repair pickup on July 7, 2026, the service advisor stated the issue was software-related — the vehicle's computer had taken the transmission offline. The malfunctioning transmission and intermittent loss of parking brake function on a moving public road presents a serious safety risk, particularly since the failure occurred without warning during normal driving conditions.

    The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover 3.0. The contact received notification of NTHSA Campaign Number: 26V248000 (Electrical system) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted but was not able to do repairs due to remedy not being provided as of yet by manufacturer The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had stated that failure was experienced. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, unknowing vehicle warning light illuminated and vehicle stalled. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

  • 2020 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY
    - WEST HAVEN, CT

    The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Discovery. The contact stated that after his wife had started the vehicle, the "Charging System Malfunction" warning message illuminated. The contact stated that the driver had previously experienced intermittent loss of motive power for short periods while driving. The dealer was contacted and advised that once the warning message illuminated, the vehicle could shut off after approximately 22-30 miles. The vehicle was driven to the residence and was then towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the alternator had shorted due to an oil leak from the upper and lower timing covers, which required replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,836.

  • 2016 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT

    Vehicle engine shut down and completely lost power. Technician inspected and found intake camshaft actuator came loose from camshaft. On this vehicle it simply uses tension from the bolt torquing. There is no keyway to prevent this. Vehicle engine is destroyed. Very unsafe design.

  • 2021 LAND ROVER DEFENDER

    The contact owns a 2021 Land Rover Defender. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the driver-side windshield exterior A-pillar trim detached from the vehicle and blocked the driver-side rearview mirror, obstructing rear visibility. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the highway, and the detached A-Pillar trim was completely removed from the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had previously occurred on two occasions, resulting in the replacement of both the driver-side and passenger-side A-pillar trims. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 35,000.

    instrument cluster failed. I replaced fuses and still no information about the car mileage ,gas , and speed of the car can be seen . This was followed by a rain storm the day before. unlike previous issued I reported to the dealership where rain water leaked in other the console and passenger seat.
