  • 2017 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT
    - Harrisburg, NC

My 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is subject to NHTSA Recall 25V-514 (Manufacturer Recall D019), issued August 8, 2025, which remains unresolved as of today. The recall concerns a front suspension upper knuckle joint that may develop a crack, potentially leading to detachment of the upper suspension arm and loss of vehicle control. Despite the recall being issued approximately nine months ago, the remedy is listed as "not yet available." The dealer has confirmed no fix or inspection appointment can be completed at this time. No repair timeline has been communicated by Jaguar Land Rover North America. Because this recall involves a potential loss of vehicle controllability and crash risk, the vehicle has been taken out of service and cannot be safely operated. The manufacturer has failed to provide parts or a remedy within a reasonable timeframe, leaving the owner without the use of a drivable vehicle. This complaint is filed to document the manufacturer's failure to make a remedy available for a safety-critical open recall and to request federal oversight of the resolution timeline for Recall 25V-514.

Supplement / update to prior NHTSA complaints regarding my 2021 Land Rover Discovery MHEV (VIN: [XXX] y prior complaints, Jaguar Land Rover has issued Recall 26V248 for DC/DC converter failure leading to loss of propulsion in 2021–2024 Land Rover Discovery MHEV vehicles. My vehicle experienced the same real-world failure condition: sudden loss of propulsion in traffic with my children in the vehicle. Jaguar Land Rover corporate has stated my VIN is not included in the recall population despite my vehicle being a 2021 Discovery MHEV and experiencing the same defect condition. I am submitting additional documentary evidence from Jaguar Land Rover Portland showing that during the repair process: * I was advised the vehicle would only run while connected to external jumper power and would shut off once that external power was removed. * Two days later, I was advised the installed battery would only charge to 6 volts and that another battery was needed to continue testing. These communications raise concern that this failure event involved broader electrical consequences and further support that my vehicle experienced the same defect condition described in Recall 26V248. The dealership ultimately completed repairs and charged me for the failure, while JLR maintains my VIN is excluded. I am requesting NHTSA review whether my VIN was improperly excluded from the recall population and whether the affected vehicle population should be expanded. We recently bought this vehicle a few weeks ago. Since we’ve had it I have been noticing a strong smell of burning engine coolant. I have looked at similar models of the 2021 Range Rover sports and they do have recalls for issues with the engine coolant system. I assume this is the same problem the phev Range Rover sport is having. Today I have a low engine coolant message pop up on the dash.

As I was driving down the interstate doing about 75 miles per hour the car lost all power without a warning. It was at night in the middle of no where. I almost had a bad accident but I was able to veer off the road before the car brakes locked. I was unable to use safety flashers.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the failure of Land Rover and its authorized dealership network to complete Safety Recall D019 involving the front suspension knuckle crack on my 2015 Range Rover Sport. I received the official recall notice in September 2025. The recall concerns a serious safety defect involving the front suspension system, which presents a substantial risk of loss of vehicle control, crash, injury, or worse. Despite the seriousness of this defect and the passage of many months, the required repair has still not been completed. Since receiving the notice, I have repeatedly contacted the dealership from which I purchased the vehicle, as well as representatives associated with the manufacturer, seeking to schedule the repair. Each time, I have been met with delays, conflicting information, and excuses regarding parts availability. Most recently, I was informed that “tariffs” are allegedly responsible for the inability to provide the replacement parts. This explanation is unacceptable. Federal safety recalls are intended to protect consumers from dangerous defects, and manufacturers have a legal obligation to provide timely remedies once a recall has been issued. It is unreasonable and unsafe for consumers to continue operating vehicles subject to a known suspension defect for months without access to the necessary repair. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate the ongoing delays associated with Recall D019 and determine whether Land Rover is meeting its obligations under federal motor vehicle safety laws. I also ask that appropriate enforcement action be considered as the manufacturer has to provide an adequate and timely remedy to affected vehicle owners. This situation has caused significant frustration and concern as this i my families only vehicle. No vehicle owner should be left indefinitely waiting for repairs related to a serious safety recall.

Back up camera started getting a fog on it and stopped working. I believe water has seeped into the back up camera. My VIN is not included in recall list and dealerships offer no help. I would have to cover complete cost. This is a safety issue and should be covered

The fuel tank shield has rusted completely through exposing the tank to damage, puncture, etc. The reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield, and the pairing of these two different metals accelerates the corrosion. Land Rover has acknowledged this problem and it’s given priority due to the fact that this is a safety issue being that these shields are also responsible for holding the tanks in place.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle appears to have experienced a failure or malfunction involving the electrical power system, charging system, 12 volt battery system, vehicle communication modules, or related components. Based on the recent Land Rover recall I found online, I am concerned that the DC to DC converter or related charging system may be involved, because the reported recall issue involves loss of 12 volt charging and potential loss of drive power. The vehicle is currently with Jaguar Land Rover Houston Central and should be available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has not been returned to me, and the dealer has indicated that the vehicle was not communicating with their diagnostic computer and was not initially showing fault codes because the modules were not communicating. They have told me that my car is not part of the recall. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the SUV experienced a complete shutdown while I was driving on two separate occasions. The first event occurred Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:32 PM while I was driving on Highway 610. The vehicle suddenly lost power while in motion. I was able to glide off the highway and park on the side of the road, but this could have caused a crash or created a serious hazard because it occurred on a major roadway. The second event occurred Friday morning around 7:20 AM while I was driving on South Rice Avenue to take my daughter to school. The vehicle shut off again and left me stranded. Multiple people attempted to jump start the vehicle, including the tow truck driver, but the vehicle could not be restarted or shifted into neutral. The vehicle remained disabled and required towing. Because the shutdown happened while driving and the vehicle could not be restarted or moved normally afterward, this created a significant risk of co
