  • 2017 LINCOLN MKZ
    - Pittsburgh, CA

Failed Components: Sunroof Drains become clogged and overflow into trunk well, causing electrical shortage, mold/mildew, and water damage along headliner and side airbags. Safety Risk: Electrical shortage causes fire risk, and mold mildew build up in car for asthmatic makes it damaging for air intake myself and others inside vehicle. Side airbags at risk as over flooding runs down pillars along side wiring. Reproduced: This has occurred twice, in my 2013 & 2017 Lincoln MKZ. No documentation is listed in either manual for maintenance around drains or possible flooding risk. Symptoms: Shorted electrical components for audio systems, check engine light, putrid foul odor lingering in vehicle, soaked rear carpet in trunk (closest to back seat) headliner show signs of water damage near curtain airbags. Notice to Auto Manufacturer: I alerted Ford Motor Company the first time in my 2013 MKZ on several different occasions, after the vehicle was in repair 3x over $5k in damages, due to faulty connection of drains. 2017 MKZ, as of January 2023 has a flooded trunk, malfunctioning electrical systems, mold/mildew build up, with estimated repairs of $5k+. Advised that nowhere in the maintenance section is this listed considering the magnitude of damage this can result in from poor care and design.

My car won't start when I press the brake and hit the start button, which then flashes green instead of staying green. I have to go through the same steps several times before it will turn on. The menu goes through the entire functions of the engine. For me, I never know if the engine will start or I will be stranded. I thought after two visits to service, it was fixed. Today, it stalled at a green light, and when I powered off and powered back on, the start button started the flashing light, the function menu again. My car wouldn't start and there was a long line behind me. I bought my car in Feb 2021 and only have 17,500 miles because I'm afraid of being stranded. I paid $52,000 cash for this car and expect that when I turn it on, I'll be able to drive to my destination without problem. This will be the THIRD TIME MY CAR IS IN SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP WON'T GIVE ME A LOANER BECAUSE OF COVID. I've never been so disappointed over something I've bought. The dealership is of very little help or empathy.

  • 2016 LINCOLN MKC
    - East Weymouth, MA

In 2019 I bought a used 2016 Lincoln MKC Reserve 2.0 Ecoboost Engine w 34K miles. In 4 years I've driven 11,400K miles. A few weeks ago my vehicle would not start. I had a tow to a Ford Retailer because the Service Tech at a Lincoln Retailer informed me they were backed up having 10 vehicles waiting to replace failed Ecoboost engines all with coolant leaks most likely I would need the same. After the $400 diagnostics I was told that I needed a new engine! Unlike the Lincoln Tech, Fords would not discuss anything about all the news, recalls or TSBs on Failed Ecoboost Engines. My Powertrain Warranty had recently expired well under mileage I would be responsible to pay. My MKCs decline happened suddenly and rapidly went downhill. First I noticed it was loud at start up which was odd and was running very rough. I checked underside and the rear to see if something was hanging and noticed a bluish gray smoke come out of exhaust for under a minute then then all symptoms cleared. Next for the 1st time a Check Engine Light came on which indicated a Misfire in Cylinder 4. Finally I had no heat in the cabin yet the engine was starting to overheat this time the Check Engine Light was blinking rapidly while driving at night in the freezing cold with my young daughter with me. It was very dangerous with supercold tempuratures being Winter in the NorthEast with icy roads. I started to smell a chemical burning odor. I have never experienced an overheating engine before in my life. I was scared and panicking not wanting to risk my engine blowing up or catching fire especially with my young child. I had no choice but to put all the windows down and pull over on the side of the road which had no sidewalks. The hood was very hot to touch. Next I am under the hood with a flashlight to check the fluids when I first became aware of the Coolant Reservoir was near empty, which explained the lack of heat and overheating. I owe $10k and it will cost $10k to replace Fords FAULTY Engine.

The car had a recall I didnt know about. It states the car may catch fire due to faulty part. I drove the vehicle home after work and parked it around 9:30 PM. The next morning a neighbor woke me up banging on my front door that my car was on fire. This was at 7 AM. The fire originated in the area close to the master cylinder like the recall states. Vehicle was a total loss. Not only that but it damaged the car it was parked behind.

  • 2016 LINCOLN MKX
    - Eldon, MO

The power steering went completely out while I was driving down the highway. I believe the problem is related to the power steering control module and the electric assist rack and pinion steering. It was the most dangerous situation I ever encountered. I narrowly missed causing an accident. There are several makes of Ford/Lincoln vehicles that have this problem dating back to 2011. The service advance trac displayed, steering assist fault service required displayed, pre collision assist not available displayed, hill assist not available displayed and a few others. They first appeared on Dec. 4th and next appeared around the 28th. The MKX is currently at Joe Machens Lincoln in Columbia, MO being inspected by the dealership and endurance, my warranty company.

    - New Philadelphia, OH

Car just went from complete cool to over heating and engine light to flash. Checked to make sure I had fluids. All full. While I had car turned off turned it back on after 15 minutes and car went straight to overheating again. Had a garage look at my car, there’s a 3 cylinder misfire on just the one side of the engine. They agree and don’t understand why this happened or how.

  • 2011 LINCOLN MKZ
    - McPherson, KS

While making a right turn into Walmart parking lot, car was suddenly very difficult to turn. We almost hit the car in the lane next to us. We had to back up into the main road and risked a collision there as well just to pull into the parking lot. Like the power steering went out. Just a mile before that turn we made a turn and had no issue. Highway driving is okay, it is just difficult to steer in low speed city driving conditions. I had a mechanic look at it. he could not find anything wrong so we flushed the power steering with fresh fluid. It did not seam to help. He concluded that the electric assist is probably what failed. We looked this up, and it is a common problem with this model year MKZ and a recall has been out for this. But, for some reason my car does not pull up this recall.
