2024 CHEVROLET TRAX- Warren, MI
My 2024 Chevy Trax’s engine (1.2L turbocharged I3 engine) went out while driving on the expressway (about 70mph) in the middle to left lane. I had to come to a complete stop and safely and immediately get my car on the left shoulder without injuring myself or others around me. My own safety was severely at risk as I was as close to the dividing wall on the left side as I possibly could be but cars are racing through right next to me. Another safety risk to be added is I was dropped off in the most sketchiest plaza and stranded from 12/1am-3am. I was left to lock myself in my non operating vehicle in a country I do not reside in. Issue was confirmed the following day or two at a dealership I got the car towed to, they found a hole in my engine block due to a rod. And all documents can be provided. Police and blocker trucks were unable to arrive to the scene for 40+ min and the car was fully investigated by GM. There were no engine lights or warnings on the Chevrolet app or car dash. The only thing I can mention is on my last documented oil change, the oil was low due to high consumption, no leaks were located. Dealership also found the fuse box blown, I assume hot oil gushed all over my wire harnesses or the oil switch flipped the sensor which caused further issues, or simply a power surge. Current cause is unknown.

2020 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Walnut Cove, NC
Started to work first thing in the morning, the truck felt sluggish-like a lack of power. I drove about a mile to turn around and head back home, something was obviously wrong. When I got out of the truck there was a smell like something was hot and the wheels were extremely hot. I realized the lack of power was due to the brakes being locked. The parking brake was not engaged. After calling the local dealer for an appointment, I had to get the truck towed. Now the 2nd day at the dealer with no diagnosis, no service codes. The truck has approximately 77,000 miles with the original brakes from the factory and have never had to be replaced. The vehicle data display shows 42% of brake wear remaining.

2022 CHEVROLET BOLT EUV- Gonzales, LA
There's a very common issue with these vehicles where the steering rack breaks and causes a number of issues including a clunking noise when driving over bumps and a rattle in steering wheel when turning left and right. However the most important and dangerous issue is that the steering wheel stops returning to center after making a turn. The steering wheel will move about 1/2 of the way back to center and then just stop and I have to manually turn it the rest of the way. You can imagine how dangerous this could be if someone doesn't realize what's happening and the car continues turning and goes into oncoming traffic. I have to manually turn the steering wheel back to center to avoid the car veering into the oncoming lane of traffic after making a turn. GM can fix it by replacing the rack, but it's a $4k repair and will happen again after replacing it.

Rear defrost stopped working. Hasn't worked in years. I took it to GM, they had a print out of a kit that I had to purchase to repair. This stopped working back around 2016.

2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU- Eagan, MN
I own a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ (VIN [XXX] ) with an electric power steering (EPS) issue that matches GM’s known EPS defect and recall 14V-153 / bulletin 15356 for 2007–2012 Malibus. The steering is very stiff and hard at low speeds, the car feels like it is dragging, and the steering wheel shakes back and forth while driving, especially at low to moderate speeds. A Chevrolet customer-service representative confirmed the VIN does not show the EPS recall, but said I should report this to NHTSA. This is a safety-related steering-assist defect pattern that GM has already acknowledged on other Malibus. I am requesting NHTSA to review whether this 2008 Malibu LTZ should be included in the EPS-related recall or special coverage, or whether further action on this defect is needed INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
