The rear camera comes “loose” and does not register all the time. It seems to be a simple electric issue; possibly an electrical short. I believe it can be easily “fixed” (temporarily) by opening the trunk and running fingers over the camera, it should not happen. I purchased my Malibu new and seldomly drive, approximately 25k miles. I maintain proper maintenance and ensure cleanliness to avoid dust or particles inside the camera or electric components. This should not happen. The wiring should not become loose nor cause the camera to turn off. Chevy dealerships do not acknowledge the issue and expect the car owners to repair the entire electrical system. Definitely should be a recall item!

Recall number N192211320 ( Left Front Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Not Seated ) Chevrolet is refusing to fix this issue, saying that it's not a safety recall. This issue can effect the steering control and its very evident thats its a safety issue. They're saying this recall expires with the base warranty. This is a clear attempt to circumvent the law, by not classifying this as a safety issue.

Component Involved: Visibility/Backup Device, Electrical System, Forward Collision Avoidance ?Description of Incident: The Android 12-based infotainment system in this vehicle is suffering from a progressive hardware/software failure that creates a severe, multi-layered safety hazard. ?CRITICAL DRIVER DISTRACTION: The system has become largely non-responsive, requiring me to repeatedly press on-screen buttons to perform basic functions. This forces me to divert my eyes and manual attention away from the road for periods far exceeding 2 seconds. This "visual-manual distraction" is a direct result of the system's inability to process commands, making safe operation impossible while attempting to use vehicle controls. ?VISIBILITY FAILURE (FMVSS 111): The failure impacts the digital rearview mirror and the safety camera feeds. These cameras frequently glitch, lag, or freeze, depriving me of necessary rear and surround visibility while moving. This is a violation of federal safety standards for rearview visibility. ?SYSTEMIC ELECTRICAL FAILURE: This "slowly dying" system is also interfering with the vehicle's communication bus, causing the power door locks to malfunction. This creates an entrapment or security risk. ?I have reported these issues to General Motors/OnStar. Despite their awareness of these "electrical gremlins" and the existence of limited service updates (like Program #N242435631), no permanent fix has been provided. This is a systemic safety defect that requires a mandatory recall to prevent accidents caused by driver distraction and visibility loss. The system needs updating to Android 14. It is Android 12 now. This is the fix. Gm want me to pay $250 for a hour for a macanic to update it. Gm was updating over the air, but it was causing the battery on the vehicle's to prematurely die under warranty. It was affecting their bottom line.

Vehicle was driving fine in good condition and well maintenance. No warning at all and went to drive it home from a friends and it would not go in reverse at all. Towed to dealership and they said it’s a transmission issue. There is a recall on 2018 chevy traverse vehicles. My vehicle is not showing up but I do believe this could be the issue and should be considered a recall

The transmission valve body failed. Even after the recall software update that it received. There were no warnings or codes, the transmission simply just started shifting hard and would not go in reverse. This type of incident could prove to be very dangerous especially in high traffic areas. There are only 35,000 miles on the Silverado 1500 trail boss. I took it in to the local Chevrolet dealership, and they confirmed that it was the valve body.

  • 2025 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
    - Ravenna, OH

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine in my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 experienced a catastrophic internal failure caused by a failed thrust bearing in the crankshaft assembly. The failure caused the engine to stop operating immediately and without warning. The vehicle and engine are currently at a dealership/service facility and the failed components should be available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The engine failed suddenly while the vehicle was being driven through an intersection, causing the vehicle to stall and lose power in active traffic. This left my family stranded in the middle of the roadway with vehicles approaching from multiple directions. Because the engine failure occurred without warning, we were unable to move the vehicle out of the intersection immediately, creating a serious risk of a collision with other vehicles. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The failure has been inspected and confirmed by the dealership/service center, which determined that the engine experienced a thrust bearing failure leading to catastrophic engine damage and loss of power. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? At this time, the vehicle has been inspected by the dealership/service department. The vehicle remains available for further inspection by the manufacturer or other parties if requested. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms prior to the engine failure. The vehicle was operating normally immediately before the incident. The engine shut down suddenly and without any prior indication that a mechanical failure was imminent.

My 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, with approximately 84,000 miles, experienced a premature and catastrophic transmission failure while driving. The vehicle began to shudder severely and lost its ability to accelerate properly, creating an unsafe driving condition. I was able to get the vehicle to a dealership. The dealership diagnosed a complete torque converter failure requiring a full transmission replacement. Crucially, at no point before or during this failure did the vehicle's onboard diagnostic systems provide any check engine light or warning message. A sudden loss of power and transmission function on a highway is a major safety risk. I believe this is a widespread defect that needs to be investigated before it causes a serious accident.

At 6,500 miles the check engine light, ESC light, stability control light came on. Engine was running rough, degradation of engine power, and very rough transmission shifting. Vehicle was taken back to purchasing dealership and was told the lifters and rods will have to be replaced.

  • 2005 CHEVROLET VENTURE
    - Dixon, CA

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated that while his father was driving at an undisclosed speed on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost automotive power. No warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that his father managed to pull over to the shoulder of the road, and upon further inspection, white/blue smoke was seen coming from under the vehicle, and the vehicle later caught on fire from the fuel pump/tank. The fire had leaked onto the floor; however, it had extinguished on its own. A police report was not filed; however, Law Enforcement arrived on scene to direct traffic. The local fire department did not arrive on scene. No injuries were sustained, nor medical attention was sought. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard, where it was deemed a total loss by the insurance provider. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
