I was driving an hour away from home and suddenly my muffler and exhaust started dragging— 49,000 miles, 5 years old AND just passed inspection A WEEK AGO. Luckily, it didn’t become completely unattached because that could have caused an accident as there were cars behind me. Complete safety hazard

2020 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles may experience a loud, rumbling exhaust leak caused by a failing front exhaust pipe bracket weld, frequently noted in complaints. While special coverage exists for other model years, 2020 owners are experiencing similar issues, with some reports suggesting it may not be covered under the same official, extended recall. My vehicle is experiencing the same issues that the 2019, 2021, and 2022 model are experiencing why is my 2020 and other owners of a 2020 year skipped to be covered for this identical problem.

I have had my vehicle to a GM dealership three times now due to the check engine light coming on and getting an emission warning. 2/13/26 was the first visit. It was right after I filled up my tank with gas that the check engine light came on when I started driving down the road. I got an appointment at a GM dealership. They put the scanner on it and received the codes. They drove it back to the service garage and I went back to work. I received information from them that they could not fix anything because the check engine light had disappeared and there were no codes available anymore. I picked up my vehicle and a week later 2/20/26 the same thing happened after I got gas. The check engine light came on and an emission warning on my Chevy app. I stopped back into the same dealership. And the same thing happened. Scanner, codes, and then they disappeared. The third time I got gas the same thing happened again with the check engine light and emission system warning. This was on 2/28/2026. I went to a different dealership and the exact same thing happened..... scanner, codes received, schedule an appointment to get it in the following week, started the vehicle and pulled out. The check engine light was still on at that time. And the check engine light disappeared once again as I was driving down the road. Each time this has happened I have been able to use my remote start via my Chevy app along with trying to use my handheld key fob remote start. The dealerships have told me this is normal for this type of check engine light emission warning. When researching this issue there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. Scratching my head wondering why there's not a recall on this.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Glass sunroof blew outwards driving 60mph on the highway. No other vehicles were around and I did not see anything impact the vehicle. The glass was broken outwards and created an 8” by 8” hole in the sunroof glass. There was no extreme temperature differential, approx. 55 degrees outside. It has been repaired and not available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It sounded like a gunshot inside the truck, causing extreme distraction at highway speeds. Luckily the interior shade was closed and caught the glass, but if it was open all of the glass would have fallen on the passengers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No the dealership did not consider it a manufacturing defect. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Insurance inspected the vehicle and it was covered under a glass claim. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No indication prior to the incident at all. It happened out of nowhere.

My truck was driving perfect and I went to pull into a parking lot in Arkansas where I live in long story short it started acting funny trying to idle out and then I heard a knocking noise. It happened twice. Then my service ESV light come on next my motor light come on then my auto for a collision system failure light come on. It’s on the dash anyway my vehicle is not running around. It has hardly no power and I smell something under the hood from time to time burning it’s kinda like an electrical smell. I’m not sure. I’m not a mechanic. I’m a [XXX]. I’m a [XXX]!!! but I have to have a way back back-and-forth to work and I cannot drive this vehicle. I have been driving it to work and just straight to home and that’s only like a mile from the shop but I need a replacement vehicle I need to sell mine at wholesale value as you guys said you would that would be greatly appreciated. God bless you guys. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Fuel leak(s) involving filler neck, fuel pump, fuel tank or associated parts in the fuel delivery system at rear of car. Gasoline smells is very strong, when the tank is filled (not overfilling the tank) gasoline puddles under the rear near the driver’s side rear tire. The fumes are so bad that the car cannot be stored in the garage (which is attached to my home). Smell is pervasive even sitting outside. I cannot drive the car for fear of gas landing on the exhaust pipe and starting a fire. I’m [XXX] and probably would not escape the vehicle. I just purchased the car and such a repair is not warranted. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

    - Cincinnati, OH

My husband, [XXX] son, my [XXX] mother-in-law, and I were traveling on the expressway at approximately 70 miles per hour in our 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L engine when the dashboard suddenly lit up with warning lights and alarms. My husband looked in the rear-view mirror and saw a large amount of smoke coming from the truck. We immediately had to cross two lanes of heavy traffic to reach the shoulder and get off the roadway safely. When I opened my door, I could see that engine oil was pouring from the truck and running down the expressway. We were stranded on the side of the expressway for over an hour before my brother was able to come pick us up. The tow truck company advised that it would take several hours before they could arrive. During that time, vehicles continued traveling at highway speeds and did not slow down despite our disabled truck being on the shoulder. The truck was shaking from the wind and force of cars and trucks passing by at high speeds. This created an extremely dangerous situation, particularly with our [XXX] child and my elderly mother-in-law in the vehicle. The truck was eventually towed to a local repair shop, where the mechanic determined that the engine oil cooler line had broken at the crimp, causing a significant oil leak. The repair required replacement of the oil cooler lines and related components at a cost of $2,109.92. Had we continued driving even briefly, the engine likely could have been severely damaged or destroyed due to the rapid loss of oil. This appears to match the known issue described in GM Customer Satisfaction Program N212326940 regarding oil cooler lines detaching from the crimp on 2019 Chevrolet Silverado trucks.
