    The contact owns a 2009 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated while driving approximately 20-25 MPH, the power steering failed, and the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a power steering assist failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 147,377.

    The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that his father was driving 35 MPH, and heard a beeping sound coming from the vehicle with an unknown warning light illuminated. The driver continued to drive the vehicle to his destination. The driver exited the vehicle and when he returned and started the vehicle the power steering was inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

    The power steering went out while I was driving in a parking lot. I replaced the rack and pinion and it went out again the day after I got it fixed. Warning lights saying fix power steering now and trac control are on. My mechanic can’t figure out why the power steering keeps going out and isn’t sure how to fix it.
