I was driving and the brake vacuum pump failed and the metal shards went up into the engine. The service light went on as they failed and I lost the ability to brake. Yes, we still have the part and the shards that came out of the engine, but there are still pieces in the engine. my safety was at risk and everyone else's on the road because I had no brakes and was driving 45 mph. The vehicle has not been looked at yet by any professional because so far no mechanic will touch it.

  • 2026 CHEVROLET TRAX
    - Bethany, OK

Service Safety Restraint System warning light keeps coming on. I have taken it to Classic Chevrolet in Oklahoma City 6 times now for the same issue. I have opened a case with GM(XXX). I have been told that GM engineers have been on the phone with the dealership to get this repaired yet it is back in the shop at the dealership again. It has been explained to me that this warning light indicates that the air bags may not work if an accident occurs or the airbags may just deploy as I am driving down the road. That is the safety issue I am reporting. If even the GM engineers cannot fix this problem then I would say that it is a serious problem putting many people at risk. I wanted this in writing. This safety issue needs to be looked into and a recall needs to occur as I am sure I am not the only GM customer driving an unsafe 2026 Chevrolet Trax. Engine failed and no light or warning besides check oil was shown on truck. The electrical system also went out (a year before engine failure) so car wouldn’t start.

  • 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
    - Fairview, TN

Purchased 2019 Chevrolet Silverado High Country Edition with the 6.2L engine and 143K miles for my son. The vehicle had a clean service history on Car Fax. On the day we purchased the vehicle, we drove it home and noticed it was shuttering at times. I used my computer scanner and it came back with a misfire cylinder #5. I troubleshot the issues and noted that the most common thing was a spark plug. Therefore, I replaced the spark plug and it drove much better. Two weeks later, my son was driving vehicle on I-40 near Nashville TN and without warning, vehicle stalled, locking steering wheel in place! Check engine lights came on and instructed him to place in neutral and restart, which he promptly did. The vehicle started, but went in limp mode making loud noises in engine before shutting off again. Luckily, traffic was minimal at 8 pm and he was able to get it over to the shoulder and avoid any injuries or accident. Towed it to Nick Mayer Chevrolet in Dickson, TN where they diagnosed it with catastrophic engine failure and needed to be completely replaced. This is the same issue that GM is being sued for and have somehow managed to take the stance that the lifter/cam/DFM issue only existed in 2020-newer models. The 2019 is when they changed to the newer body style and the new Gen V L87 engine in the 6.2. Despite the clean vehicle history, dealership reached out to GM and they stated they would not help cover any repairs but would gladly take 14K to fix it. The 2019-2026 models all need to be recalled due to this safety issue and fixed before catastrophic engine failure claims another victim financially or worse!

10 speed transmission failed at 70K miles. Metal found in the torque converter. Manufacturer recommended routine maintenance was performed on transmission. There needs to be a recall on 2020 to 2021 vehicles with the 10 speed transmission due to the reporting of safety issues of the vehicles locking up while driving. I was lucky to feel the issue happening and getting off the road before it was able to lock up on me causing serious injuries. This needs to be addressed and taken seriously before someone loses their life. Best regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
