In 2025, one if the pistons misfired. It was repaired and the same issue occurred a year later causing the cam shaft to break as well. Not to mention we had an electrical failure where the dashboard didn’t work and the water pump failed right after it was in for the first piston misfiring. Vehicle: 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 LT (5.3L V8 Engine) Component: Engine (Piston Rings, Lifters, and Motor Assembly) / Powertrain Component Availability: Yes, the failed components/vehicle are available for inspection upon request. What Happened and Safety Risk: While operating the vehicle on Prince Street in Clovis, NM, the engine suddenly began knocking violently without any prior warning or symptoms. Immediately following the mechanical failure, dashboard warning lights illuminated (including the Check Engine light, ABS, and Traction Control) and the vehicle dropped into "Reduced Engine Power" mode. This caused an immediate and hazardous loss of acceleration on an active roadway, forcing an emergency maneuver to navigate out of traffic and pull over safely. This sudden powertrain failure poses an unreasonable and severe safety risk to the driver and surrounding traffic. Confirmation and Inspections: The mechanical failure has been confirmed and diagnosed by Hamilton Chevy in Portales, New Mexico, and Sanders Repair Services in Portales, New Mexico. The vehicle and components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms of any kind prior to the sudden failure.

The shifter doesn't recognize when it is shifted into park. Shift to park keeps flashing on dash.

Just had to replace a radiator that was leaking all across the top. Also have gotten the steering assist warning for thermostat and temperature sensor. Seems to be cery common problems rhat gm ahould fix

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving at 69 MPH when the vehicle experienced a total loss of automotive power and all of the warning lights were illuminated; a message was displayed on the instrument panel "Reduce Acceleration, Drive with Care" and the vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and the contact was advised that engine had experienced catastrophic engine failure as a result of the pistons and rods exploding into the engine, and that the engine would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however the check engine warning light had remained illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,948.

Without any warning, the INFO-TAINMENT COMPUTER SYSTEM on the dashboard (BOLT EV) fails to come on, sometimes lasting up to 5 minutes. This has happened intermittently for the last 8 years and can be problematic. When the computer info-tainment is not on, I cannot control anything on the dashboard. For example: I have no back up camera and cannot see when I back up from my garage. I cannot control the heating/cooling system/ audio/ defroster(which can be dangerous because I cannot see through my front/back windsheild). The system reboots itself afer approx. 5 mins, but in the meantme, driving can be dangerous.

The vehicle experienced severe transmission hesitation, rough shifting, and shuddering early on, which was brought to a Chevrolet dealership under factory warranty at 16,875 miles (April 2021). The issue was reproduced by the dealer at that time. The transmission has now suffered a complete failure at 97,277 miles, creating an immediate driving and safety hazard due to loss of propulsion while operating the vehicle. The failed transmission and vehicle are currently available for inspection upon request.

During cold weather, temperatures below freezing, both sideview mirrors open fully extended contacting the fenders, sometimes open partially, sometimes open 3/4 of the way. Cycling the mirrors closed then open condition repeats. Each mirror responds independently from the other. This resulted in dents on each fender from the mirrors when they open fully. The doors cannot be opened without further damaging the fenders and or the mirrors. Once the temperature rises above freezing, the mirrors return to normal function. The truck is available for inspection upon request. Safety concern and risk exists without function and use of sideview mirrors. Cannot see down both sides of vehicle behind when operating. The safety and risk increases exponentially when towing. The problem was not duplicated at the dealership due to the vehicle was inside the shop unexposed to the below freezing temperatures. It has been reported to the dealership and inspected by the body shop manager who also acknowledged the problem and cause. Mirrors and vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representative. There were no warning lamps to indicate an issue. The indication was the function of the mirrors and the positions they would stop at when vehicle is unlocked.

My husband was driving his 2021 Chevy Trailboss when it went into limp mode. It had to be towed to the dealership and it was uncovered that his truck was throwing out codes P0700 P2732 which is a known issue with this truck, resulting in internal valve body hydraulic failure. Since his vehicle is at 70k miles, and over the 60k, the dealer is pushing back and trying to say they don’t have to cover it. GM states that we should pay and then submit a reimbursement form. This is a $3800 fix. This is not our responsibility and this is unsafe. This should be a safety recall for all vehicles of this make, model, and with this transmission. Additionally, he had to have his engine replaced on this truck (we bought it brand new in 2021) with only 10k miles on it. This truck should not be built anymore and anybody facing these issues should not be held liable for them. This is a manufacturing issue and it is only one company’s fault, General Motors!
