Check engine light with rough shifting and vehicle wouldn’t go in reverse. For safety reasons we had the vehicle towed to our local Chevy Dealership. Transmission needed a valve body rebuild. This is a known issue with this transmission but our VIN wasn’t under that recall.

Similar to the issues that were on the gas version of this engine and the recall associated with it. The engine seized on the expressway. When it was towed to the dealership, they said it was catastrophic engine failure. They found a lot metal shavings in the oil pan. They did not diagnose any further due to cost. At the time it happened, there were no warning lights or check engine lights on.

Parked vehicle fire that happened approximately 8-9 hours after parking it. Neighbors woke me up at 4:30am after hearing a loud boom. When i went outside the whole front end was engulfed in flames. Fire investigators said it started in the engine compartment and moved to the inside of the vehicle. No foul play suspected. There were no warning signs leading up to this. I kept up with all maintenance and had no aftermarket additions. Luckily no one was injured but if i had been inside the vehicle when it happened the electric locks likely wouldn't have worked and I'd have little time to evacuate. The heat damaged a neighbors car. I read that recently there was a lawsuit being filed in Delaware involving my type of vehicle. Im currently dealing with GM and trying to get reimbursed because my vehicle was still under warranty. Total loss. Im trying to preserve vehicle for inspection however it is in my apartment complex parking lot and they would like it removed.

My 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Bison ZR2 (VIN [XXX] ) suddenly lost all power steering, acceleration, and propulsion while driving my children to school at approximately 8:00 AM on March 16, 2026. The truck came to a complete stop with no warning lights or prior indication. This matches the exact ‘critical issue with the engine and transmission system’ alert I received from OnStar Advanced Diagnostics the same morning. Steering was completely unresponsive and I had no acceleration. My children were passengers — this was extremely dangerous. I have not driven the vehicle since and have requested towing to the dealer. Please investigate under any open probes into 2024 Silverado HD power-loss and steering failures.
