Formal safety complaint against dealer for recall malpractice and non-compliance with federal safety repair procedures under Campaign 21V635000. During recall service, the service department completely bypassed the mandatory TOPIx Workshop Manual Section 310-01 electronic priming sequence, leaving high-pressure fuel rails completely dry upon reassembly. Bypassing this safety protocol introduced severe air pockets into the high-pressure fuel system. Time-stamped OBD diagnostic screenshots taken on the dealer lot right before departure confirm the vehicle's computer had already registered severe fuel pressure drops and engine misfires due to dry-running High-Pressure Fuel Pumps and injectors. This mechanical deviation caused the mechanical High-Pressure Fuel Pumps to fail internally and the Bank 2 fuel injectors to seize permanently wide open, resulting in continuous fuel dumping, fouled spark plugs, a destroyed oxygen sensor, and a total loss of motive power on a public roadway. Furthermore, the dealership generated federal recall compliance documentation certifying a quality-control test drive was performed when the official repair order shows identical "In" and "Out" mileage, proving the vehicle never left the service bay. The dealer refuses to remedy the related damage under federal guidelines and refuses to communicate a resolution. Due to intentional document falsification, consumer demands the manufacturer fund a $0.00 balance remedy executed at an alternate certified facility including: (1) Replacement of BOTH High-Pressure Fuel Pumps (HPFPs), (2) Replacement of all Bank 2 injectors, plugs, and oxygen sensor, (3) Crankcase oil flush due to fuel dilution, (4) Engine compression and emissions back-pressure tests, and (5) A written 12-month nationwide parts/labor warranty.

I continue to have an intermittent issue with my car throwing itself into park. It happened once in 2024, 2025 but now three times in the last two weeks. This is becoming incredibly unsafe as while driving the car puts itself into park while in motion. The insurance company will not repair due to it being intermittent. I do not know what to do but I need this documented for safety reasons

The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and it was determined that the hydraulic system had failed due to corroded hydraulic lines caused by the colder climates. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The left headlight daytime running light has died due to a defective chip in the light itself. It may cause a higher chance of a daytime wreck because of reduced visibility. Also, more chance of me getting pulled over for my headlight not working. Apparently it’s a common issue that JLR know about, but won’t do anything. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Special Service Message (SSM) 75479 relates to the premature failure or dimming of the Daytime Running Light (DRL) halo on premium LED headlights, most notably affecting vehicles like the 2020-2023 Land Rover Defender. SSM 75479 acknowledges the internal awareness of this condition for technicians, though it is designated as an informational service message rather than a formal recall.

  • 2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT
    - Fort Washington, MD

I am reporting what I believe is a safety-related defect involving the automatic transmission in my 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport, VIN [XXX]. Approximately five months after the factory warranty expired, at around 44,000 miles, the transmission began slipping unexpectedly, and the vehicle would not accelerate above roughly 25–35 mph. This occurred while driving, creating an unsafe condition. I needed to make a left turn across traffic, but because the vehicle would not accelerate properly and could not safely match the speed of other vehicles, I judged it too dangerous to change lanes and complete the left turn. Instead, I had to make a right turn, pull into a driveway, turn around, and continue straight to avoid an unsafe lane change. A vehicle that cannot respond normally to throttle input presents a risk when merging, changing lanes, or crossing intersections. The symptoms are transmission slipping under acceleration, limited maximum speed, and abnormal drivability. To my knowledge, this is not due to driver error or poor maintenance. The problem has been reproduced and observed by an authorized Land Rover dealer (Land Rover of Alexandria, Alexandria, VA), which provided an estimated repair cost of about $7,000, indicating a major transmission or control-system fault. The vehicle and transmission are available for inspection upon request. I understand there have been prior recalls and technical bulletins involving Land Rover transmission control issues (including a recall where certain Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque vehicles could unexpectedly shift into neutral due to sensor and software calibration problems). My vehicle’s behavior—loss of proper drive, slipping, and limited speed—raises similar safety concerns even if the failure mode is not identical. I am concerned that there may be ongoing transmission control or calibration issues that could affect safety. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • 2026 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT
    - Fort Lee, NJ

NHTSA Vehicle Safety Complaint Narrative I am submitting this complaint to report what I believe is a safety-related defect involving the power liftgate on my 2026 Range Rover Sport. Prior to the incident described below, the vehicle’s power liftgate had unexpectedly opened on two separate occasions after it had been closed. Although those earlier events did not result in damage, they caused concern because the liftgate opened without my intentionally activating it. On July 2, 2026, while exiting my parking space in my condominium garage, I closed the liftgate, entered the vehicle, and began driving forward. Without any intentional activation by me, the power liftgate suddenly opened while the vehicle was moving. The liftgate struck a low overhead pipe/obstruction in the garage, causing significant damage to the liftgate, rear tail lamp, and related components. At the time of the incident: * I was driving forward, not reversing. * I did not intentionally press the liftgate button, key fob, or use any gesture activation feature. * The second key fob was inside my residence and not in the vehicle. * The incident occurred in the morning, before my family departed for a trip to Washington, D.C. I reported the incident to the Land Rover dealership and Land Rover North America. An engineering review later concluded that the vehicle “may have been reversing” and referenced a timestamp that I believe is inconsistent with when the incident actually occurred. I have requested written explanations regarding these discrepancies, including the basis for the conclusion that the vehicle may have been reversing and whether the two previous unexpected liftgate opening events were considered during the investigation. To date, I have not received satisfactory written answers to those questions. My concern extends beyond the damage to my vehicle. A power liftgate opening unexpectedly while a vehicle is in motion presents a potential safety hazard.

  • 2021 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER VELAR
    - Frisco, TX

The backup camera on my 2021 Velar has stopped functioning. Service confirmed not a wiring issue and claims it is the NFSM Module not functioning correctly. There are several recalls on the module that include the model and year of my Velar. Although my VIN number is not included in the recall, it is highly suspect that it is a known faulty module for the year and model amongst other models from 2020-2024. It is a safely hazard and one that should not fall under the consumers responsibility. This make, model, year and VIN needs to be added to the recall. Please do the right thing and have it included in the recall. Thank you!
